Default DRB Battery mount

G'Day,
I'm trying to build an RMC with a 351 but keep ending up building a DRB with a 302 (someone elses) Just finished building & painting a new scoop/bonnet and now he turns up with the battery mount problem...He fitted it in the LH foot well and now the legroom is too small so he wants to put it in the boot on the RH side . There's a little shelf there but it's just 2mm of fibreglass.
Does anybody know the method for mounting an optima battery on this little "shelf" without the battery's weight beating it's way through the glass ?
I have an idea that the battery tray that was supplied might provide a bit of reinforcement. (in the foot well it sat on a steel floor) I intend to sandwich the tray with 3mm aluminium but I'm not too happy with that idea either.
Does anybody know if there is a reinforcement bracket or something that should be fitted.
All I want to do is finish "my" 302 and get back to playing with "MY"351 !

Hi Rob,

There are no instructions in the DRB manual regarding the boot option. I put mine in a battery box and mounted the box using wing nuts so it can be removed if I need to change the battery. There is no way it is going to go through the floor. (see picture in my gallery)

If you feel the glass is to thin on your friends cobra it might be worth getting underneath and adding a couple of layers of glass or a metal bracket as you suggested.
