Default Hodson

The decision making process is finally coming to an end. I am going to go the way of a partial build (approx 80%) by G force and then finish off the last section myself. I am looking at putting a 4.6 all alloy 32 valve DOHC engine in which needs to be post 2003. I have found a new engine but the seller cannot tell me the build date. does anyone know how to tell the build date from the numbers stamped on the engine? I am also looking at matching a Tremec 5 speed gear box to it. Does anyone know of any problems matching this gearbox / bell housing to the 4.6.
thanks guys from the addicted one

my supercharged 4.6 has a sticker on the right tapet cover when looking from the front 7/23/03 if that helps Think you will need a U.S. gearbox or bell housing?

Ford actually went to a cast iron block in 2003 with aluminium heads. I am not entirely sure if it was only for the supercharged engines though and whether the naturally aspirated are still aluminium. I'd have to check with the info I have at home to be sure.

Hodson I drove through Townsville yesterday and thought about you. Good to see I'll have another Cobra to hang with up here. Seeing that engine is Euro 3 (meaning it will have to be registered before the end of the year) we'll be cruising together quicker then you think!

Hodson, If you require a SFI tested bellhousing for the 4.6 mated to a tremec see here:

Much lighter than the hydro formed bellhousings.
