Jim, I'm gonna need a few GM plugs.

I'm not sure what I'll need yet but I'd guess any lead which goes from the harness to the rear of the car ie. fuel pump etc. Also a few for pigtails, ( short extensions ) like O2 sensor extensions, ALDL extension etc.

I'll make a list when I know and send to you.

Cheers

Thanks Jim but impossible in that time.

I've just today received the E38 ECM and the harness which plugs to the gray connector on the ECM. It seems the harness which plugs to the black ECM connector has not been supplied as yet.

Maybe I'll know for your next order.

Cheers

ok cool not to worry
i know most cobras take a long time to build hehehehe
yr engine is a 6lt ????
does yr ecu have 3 plugs 2 small and one large

its its a 6lt and u need the blue plug i should have them soon
and wil make a loom

as i said before buying new stuff from holden is hardto know what yr goin to get

the new engines have 2 or 3 seperate looms
some looms go thru dash and can cost over 800 bucks

once i get my shipment in next 2 weeks i will start making the missing loom
will be half the price that holden charge for complete new loom

but give me all details of yr engine and i will let u know what u need

as i have all the pics and diagrams for everything up to ve commodores

and will cntinue importing the fiddly hard to get electrical bits for them

so let me know whats missing and i will start making checklists from more and more customers

thanks

jim

Jim, The engine is an L76 6Ltr. and the ECM has two connectors. Large Black and Large grey I think.

I've got the harness that plugs into the black ECM connector and seems to connect all engine related sensors, injectors etc, but nothing that plugs into the grey connector.

Nor a harness for the Electronic throttle except the pedal thingy itself.

I ordered this engine with everything to make it start and go so I'll be contacting the supplier to see whats missing or what else he has to supply ( thats if he is to honor his quote and supply what's missing).

Then I'll know what I need extra.

ok well the loom behind the dash is around 800 dollars for a hsv 6lt ls2

so good luck with holden they do not do conversions and are only parts interpreters i guess

all these new engines are only just starting to come out so i guess as they sell more they will learn just like i am learning what is needed for them all these days

many people dont know but there has been afew engines for the past few years for ls1 and ls2 and the new 6lt in the ve is only here for short time till we get the proper new 6lt my freind knows how its all been changing better than me

anyway ill chase things up and se if they are available

the loom u have will have the 80 pin plug for the ecu

so that means u need the 73 pin plug

just read up my notes

yr ecu has 2 plugs x1 73 pins
x2 80 pins

the plug yr missing is the x1 grey plug that plug runs wires for these sensors

which u will need plugs for aswell

speed snesor
mas air flow sensor
tcc for auto box
rear o2 sensors
accel pedal sensor

and also has wiring for starter relay
fuel pump
powers for ecu

so its heaps different compared to ls1 gen 3

Yep, two plugs, grey connector with 80 pins and I have the harness for that.

The black connector has 72 conventional pins plus one small spade type connector making the 73.

Thanks for your help, I'll keep you posted.

just went thru my diags and also spoke to guy at holden

a gen 4 6lt has one small harness which does some sensors and the injectors and coils on the engine

the 2nd harness does the black plug on the ecu and also does the front of the car and under the dash

the black plug has wires for all these ...............

engine relay power
start relay
fuel pump relay
vehicle speed sensor
mass air flow sensor
the 2 rear o2 sensors
accelerator pedal sensor
thermo fans

so basically everything i just listed for the black plug will have to be made up
i will get all the parts needed to make afew of these looms and keep u all posted

i can buy the black plug straight away if needed
i will make a list of the other plugs needed on the engine as listed above

if u can go thru the above sensors i have mentioned on the black plug
and let me know what you need
if you do get a mafless tune fitted to your ecu then u dont need the mas air flow plug either

thanks

jim

Jim, Thats excellent.

Do you want me to send you my engine harness and PCM?.
Any idea of price of the harness with all relays and connectors.

There will be a need to two of these harnesses.

Cheers

ok cool i will enough to make 5 looms

but i need to know what stage do u want the loom to be finished too

do u just want it to fit to sensors on engine

or do u want all relays and fuses fitted so all there is left is afew wires for batt ign feul pump radiator fan etc etc

to make the loom fully complete will be around 550 this includes 3 to 4 relays and holders all plugs needed for the sensors and there will be a small plug left over with wires

all labelled and instructions supplied

or can do it bit cheaper without relays and fuses

thanks

jim

Jim, I've sent you three pics via email of the harness both Schipps and I have. This should enable you to identify whats on it.

Most connectors are obvious. However the harness tail (Pic 1 ) looks like it has some gearbox connectors. It also appears the holden harness has provision for the front O2 sensors but not the post cat O2's. Not that I really want them but may have to for compliance.

From my point of view I think I'd just want a fuel pump relay tail that I can run to where-ever it's gonna live and connect it myself to a relay in the boot. Same with the radiator fan.

I would want a small fuse holder box and of course an OBD port and a check engine light.

Speedo, Tacho and accelerator wires would also be wanted.....What else is there?.

Cheers

Mick, The mighty Maroons, was there any doubt?.

I heard on the news during the week that some woman captured a huge cane toad in Melbourne.

Give us time, we'll take over Australia yet.

so all u want is the left over wires for
speedo
tacho
fuelpump relay trigger
fan relay trigger
accell pedal wiring
batt
ign
brake signal
obd2 diagnostic plug
mas air flow meter
air temp sensor
and maybe rear o2 sensors

do u have rear o2 sensors maybe speak to engineer if they are needed

you would only need 2 or 3 fuses on the bat and ign wires

the other fuses u have to fit them on the relay to the fans and fuel pump

i doubt the ecu has a check engine light cause everything is serial data to the bcm the pim and the dash

anyway ill keep intouch when i get the plugs

thanks

jim

Jim,

sounds fantastic. What are the other wires used for on the standard dash loom that we are "losing" ???
