Big Thanks to Warrick Harrison
Just a big thanks to Warrick today.
We were down on the Coast today and the car was looking bloody good and feeling just as good (picked up a trophy the previous week at the local car show).
Well, right in the middle of Surfers, the engine belt almost fell off after a support bracket bolt sheared off leaving a bit of the bolt in the block.
Rang round (Scotty) who gave me Spook's and Warricks number. Unable to get Spook, but Warrick was in so the plan was to piggy back it to his place.
RACQ did the business and picked the car up (went on the back with some wooden blocks to help out on the clearance) and an hour later Warrick had us heading back to the beach - Big thanks mate
The car drew some attention whilst waiting for the towie including:
A rather shabby guy who wanted to borrow the car for an hour to guarantee a root!!!
An American who owns a number of Rolls Royce's.
A muslim family who just wanted their pics taken next to it.
A local hoon who offered a push start if that was what our problem was.
As well as plenty of other non descript people - I was bloody worn out talking to them all
Great cars these COBRA's - Nothing like them

Yeah, that's Warwick to a tee. Always happy to lend a hand to help out club members. (Even if they own the competitors product )
Glad it was a quick and easy fix for Warwick.
Peter, I've dropped your post into News section of the QLD Club Site, hope that's ok.

Two chassis on the ground and one body up on top of the office.
In their early stages, but the body looked pretty good.

Congrats on the purchase. We just love those Daytona's.
Having a tilt front clip is pretty cool as well.
Now, just got to talk club members into allowing them to compete directly with the Cobras at Nationals etc. They are the only close relative of the Cobra and in my books they are no different, same chassis, just a different shaped body. (now that will stir up some trouble)
I expect more people would be interested in them, if they were considered in the same class. Plus you can have a half or full roll cage without spoiling any of the beautiful body lines. Combined with tilt front end & roof, makes for a great track car.

Warwick did say that one was travelling south.
Pretty sure the other will be for himself as no current cobra's to his name now that the track Cobra has gone to the man with the beard

Yet to be proven I think, unless last weekend changed all that.
I'm sure he'll chirp in with his recent track escapades

It's "the man with the beard" here.....
Now , it's not important who's faster than who....just as long as we all enjoy ourselv.......Horsepoop !!!..........
At this stage, Warwick has all the records to beat, and unfortunately at the moment I don't have an engine in the red racer so it's a little difficult.
It would seem that whoever the Chinese guy was that I ran over, he had some serious power, because my luck with racing Cobras continues to be all bad!
First run as new owner in the red racer, was o.k., but certainly different than the bumblebee to drive, and my times at Queensland Raceway, were a good/bad? 2 seconds a lap slower than Mr. Harrison's fastest.
Second run was at the A Series Sprints at Morgan Park Raceway,Warwick, and on Friday practice day, I had a back wheel come off as I came on to the straight, and I almost wore the concrete wall at high speed...MY stupid fault, in changing wheels about a dozen times, and not getting one of the back wheels sitting correctly on a spacer when I did the nuts up, and broke studs off the wheel.
Followed by the next day, where upon being told that I must be "on the limit", because everytime I went up under the bridge, on a long left hander, I was on three wheels!!!!....COOL !!.
With this news, I figure I'm superman, and decide to REALLY get that front wheel to stand up....resulting in ALL of the wheels getting the ****s with me, and spitting me off the track.
This resulted in a 204 metre ( I stepped it out with my old Golf strides) slide, backwards, sideways, and into a tyre wall.
The lower nose cone GONE...tyres flatspotted, and exhaust system busted, and a decent amount of fiberglass repairs to get the front end back to where it belongs .
Third run was two weeks ago, at Queensland Raceway, after a couple of thousand bucks to fix the "slide damage".
I was entered into both the Saturday Afternoon Sprints, and my first Top Gear, Door to Door event on the Sunday.
Three laps into the Saturday's first round, and Bang! Bang! Bang!.....split the block down through the mains......FANBLOODYTASTIC.
Have decided that it's not worth just putting a replacement block, and using the existing 40 thou over standard pistons/conrods/hydraulic lifters etc. etc.
SOOOOOO.....a big pile of boxes has arrived at ANT Mechanical, containing, Crane Cam ( Same as the bumblebee's), Scat Crank, Arias forged pistons, Eaton Solid Lifters, etc. etc. et.....bloody cetera....as well as a block from an F150 is in getting crack tested, acid bathed, machined and so on, and we'll be back racing at Queensland Raceway in 10 days time....fingers crossed.
And THEN we'll see if we/I can match Warwick's times.
Had three days racing, ( Friday,Sat,Sun )at Warwick again this weekend just gone,in the A Series sprints and used the Black and Yellow beast.
Times were a bit off the pace.....SICK of having Cobras "In the Shop", and not all that superbrave after my slidey thing...but got braver as the weekend went on...so all should be right given time.
Stay Tuned,
Regards,
Warren.
