Default How many different kits are available in Australia

Hi all,

I was just reading a 'Thread' on the Australian site about going topless for charity and it prompts me to ask the question...

How many different kits are available in Australia..

I can think of the obvious...

Cobras, GT40, C and D Jaguar kits, TD MG kits, Purvis Eureka - Sterling etc.

Just how many are out there....

What are your thoughts....

Perhaps we can 'Post' some links to sites.

See how we go - I may extend the question to the gang across the pond. I know the variety is endless in the States. One that really impressed me was the baby Thunderbird kit I saw complete with a late model FI.

Put your think hat on.....

Default Devaux

A mate of mine has become a little taken with these Melbourne-made cars. 5.7L Chebby, but as I understand, a few compliance issues. Yours for 170K

Don't forget about Denis R Bedford's (DRB founder) other cars.

DRB Sabre (and associated cars)

Jaguar XJ220

Jaguar XJ13

32 Ford Bobtail

And all the minor ones in between.

Richardferguson

Hey Richard at $170k for the kit....I'd need to go back and do Post Grad. medicine to afford it.

Mmmm perhaps add .10c to every BigMac..

I saw this Devaux down at Phillip Island raceway at the Classic racing day. There was a lot of interest in it.

I would need to get Anne out in her 1920's clothes and all..

When I was looking back in about '99 there was 14 Australian Kits. There are others now that weren't around back then.

I just cannot remember the kit, but there is a Ferrari Daytona based kit and I have also seen the Ferrari Datsun 240Z kit here in Australia.

I suppose we do have a few options. That's not to mention the VW kits that are beach buggy types and the WWII models.

And of course the Daytona at Warrick's and Richard B. in Melbourne

Just thought of the Extreme roadster that Mike M. was building John C. has it now.

That's the Gen II powered car that was literally copied by Holden who passed it onto that other company that is selling it for double the price.

The Ferrari car that is based on the 240Z comes from Classic Revival (same guy who makes our Cobra's).
I would like one of these as the next "Kit" car I do, it would be a great town car for Ronda.
Should be able to squeeze it in somewhere between the Charger and the Chev

Default Classic Revival 240Z/Ferrari

Bernie, Boxhead,
This is one of Ian's Ferrari kit's that he brought down to a track day at Wakefield some years back. I don't remember if it was a 240z or 260z

Image is a bit blurry as it's scanned from my photo collection.

You will also see in the background this was before the current pit lane and garages were built.

Ian drives that car as a daily driver and it certainly has stood the test of time and still looks in good shape.

Would be cool with a Gen 111 under the bonnet

Phil.

Default Shannons Auction

Dropped into Shannons the other day (as I always do to dream a bit) and they have one of the Ferrari Datson 240Z there. Really nice unit also and would be interested to see what it goes for. Also have a Cobra there which was a bit tired looking. Interesting reg. label on screen said Robnell but sure didnt look like one.

Boxhead I'll bid for Rhonda no problems, even drive it up for you

Check link.

I reckon the 260Z 2 seater is the one to use as a basis for the 250GTO kit. They have a stronger chassis than the 240Z. Good original 240Zs are selling for big money these days but the 260Z are a bit more reasonably priced.

An LS1 would be awesome and probably weigh less than the original L26 motor. There have been a few 240 and 260 Z cars with Chevs transplanted into them over the years. I think someone in the US was even selling a conversion kit.

Cheers

Red face

The 260Z kit tends to grow on you when you see enough of them.

I think the rear and front are glassed over the Datsun body. It appears as if the windscreen and other glass stay Datsun 260Z.

I was wondering what one would look like with sliding side windows..
