Default Seats

Dear all,

I am thinking of getting the seats recommended by Warwick Harrison, trimmed in leather and based on his fibreglass frame. These are made in northern NSW. These look very good and meet ADR requirements. They are, however, not cheap and are out of state. I am interested in alternatives - I have seen re-trimmed MX5 seats - but would rather a more traditional look. I was wondering if folk in S-E Qld have had good experience with other local trimmers or other seats?

Many thanks,

Merv

Hi Merv I'm in the same boat was looking at MX5 seats but don't think they fit with the wider tranny tunnel you need for the T56, How much are Warwicks seats??

Ps you have a email

cheers Greg

I am not sure of the exact cost but I am advised by someone who got them that after all done in leather one would have not much change from $2500. They are excellent.

Give Doug Pearce a call. He knows someone down here who makes them for around $1500. Original style in leather with headrests and they meet the ADRs. 97394222

Bernie - yes indeed mate. Actually Doug was part of the reason for going with the Harrison, having worked on more than a few himself. We checked out his workshop back in February before I ordered. He and Rob Hamilton spoke highly of the car and I got to crawl over one that was fitted with an LS1. Enough said!

Using the Harrison frames and head rests and the trimmer from northern NSW, that was the price that was given to me by a recent builder. Will check further.

At $2500 it sounds like a bit of a take to me.

Even if you don't like MX5 seats surely retrimmed seats from another car would suffice at a fraction of that cost.

Perhaps the old make it work for engineering then change to what you want post engineering is the go.

Then you could ignore ADR requirements later ie but some old MG or similar sport car seats. This would achieve the low back, low seating goals.

Speak to Doug Pearce as mentioned... they're a close copy of the Cobra originals with headrest added and are ADR compliant.

Default Seats to fit,

HSV300,

Doug states that his seat person can make most seats to suit WITH ADR approval. He is making a set for the Daytona. I think with seats and interior you shouldn't have to redo it after rego. Its one of the area's that can be done once and left.

Some of the new QLD Cobra's interiors are fantastic, it makes the car.

The only thing I need to look into is side bolstering... I'm hoping to get a seat that provides a bit of support for track days.

Aside form ADR's I must highlight the danger of the low back no headrest seat style (aka Original style) that some use... In a rear impact without any headrest you will snap your neck or brain yourself on the rear bar...

I have a feeling that down the track this seat style may end up being band at the Nats.. It's probably even more exposed to danger on the street???? Not pre-empting or wishing bad on anyones choice but this is definately an area of safetly that one must not overlook for the sake of styling...

My 2c anyways..

Hmm, I now own a Cobra without headrests.

I particulary like the style of headrests on the Superformance cars, slim, stylish and still retro looking.
