RCM is also based in Melbourne if that helps you.

Nassty (Al,)

The RCM (not RMC), how do you find that kit, okay and the support is good?. Being a local supplier I guess it would be good for me to drop in on them and say hello. They are down Blackburn Rd aren't they?.

Personally I would go see Doug Pearce to see the difference between kits.

The RCM is one of the cheapest, but compared to something like a Harrison, requires a lot more work to finish. Depends really what you are after. Having a local kit has it's advantages.

Yeah, in Blackburn which is really handy for me.

RCM have recently got new molds that are now very clean. The old mold which I've got required more work but both are an excellent shape in my opinion. The chassis is similar to an RMC with shortened Jag front and rear ends and weighs about 1200kg when finished. At the Nats, RCMs have won trophies but then again so has every other kit manufacturer. Customer service is excellent, no question goes unanswered. The only thing to consider is that RCM is a hobby business. The owner has a day job so things do take longer than a full time manufacturer. The kit is also very hands on but then again it's also cheaper and frankly it isn't too hard to do. To date I think they're about 90 kits on the road.

I'd suggest to trek up to the Nats before you buy and then you can get up close to all the different kits and suss out the differences between them. The Nats are just around the corner, end of September.

Looks great Geof! How wide are those wheels? I'm guessing 8 and 10 inch? Did you consider the "Traditional Racer" style?

Yes, they are 16x8" & 16x10".

Here is a photo showing Geof's rear dish.


I reckon Cobra's look good with front wheels under the front guards, but the rear wheels look great filling right out the rear guards, as long as it doesn't cause rubbing etc.

So at the moment it does look like Geof's could have specified more front space(less backspace) on the rear, but he has gone for a bit of insurance with his offsets, which is never a bad idea.

Long, long story, but in short, yes. I actually initially intended to get the Traditional Racer but there was some problems getting these with the offsets required so I stuck with the wine glass variety in a raw finish. Wheels are indeed 8" and 10".

Hmmm... that's a concern. Maybe with some fiddling I can get them to fit my Harrison. Was it the fronts or the rears that were a problem, or was it left-to-right misalignment of the body?

If I remember rightly, the fronts will be the problem. I think it was about 25mm out. I spoke to Warwick about this just before I sent the car for paint and he suggested that I could cut and shut the front guards to fit the wheels under. I decided to stick with the body and change the wheels!!

Harrison owners and those to be... I just spoke to Warwick and thought I'd pass on that he's moved to R33 Skyline rear ends as the R32 is becoming scarce. This brings the diff ratio back to 4.1 (from 4.363). Apparently the mounting points are slightly wider so it's not a straight swap for the whole cradle. Either way it probably means there's more aftermarket goodies out there for us.
