Default Daddys day present!

Hi all, just wanted to share with you my fathers day gift from my 1 and 2 year olds (he he). Thought I'd at least try and preserve the paint for a while longer as it has a few nicks here and there in such a short time (thanks to the Goodyears!) I just got this carbra made from Carbra Australia. Not the best fit as 1 size fits all, but will definitely do the job on longer trips. I decided to put my plate number on the top so hopefully I don't get an A**HOLE again using the excuse that he couldn't see my plate and book me again like the one early in the year. Ordered Thursday, got it yesterday, $407 inc. postage. This is quite reasonably priced when you consider the cost of a new paint job. (my wife's words! )
Front view

Clear view of plate number (I hope!)
See you all at the Nationals.

Stef

Post Great idea Stef. I will be doing something similar.

Hi Stef,

I think I saw your car when it was having some work done a few months ago in Neil Streetings garage, South Hurstville. Would that be right?

Neil told me about a Company which is over near Brookvale that manufacturers this clear, film like product which goes over your duco to fully protect from stone chips. You can cover the entire front and bonnet area or put it any where else on the car, like around the rear guards etc.

Neil is having his RMC fitted with this product after the new re-spray is completed and suggests that I should have my RMC with the same material 'WHEN IT IS FINALLY COMPLETED!'

Has anyone heard of this product before or how it performs?

I really like the copy of your plate on top of the CarBra. Did they do that for you during the manufacture or was it done elsewhere?

Baz.

Hi Baz, the product you are refering to is from 3M I believe, they have been making this for some time, Yes it was my car you saw at Neils workshop, he also mentioned this product to me, I will be looking at getting it over my guards although they already have a number of chips on them, the chips will show through the film so I don't know whether it's now worth it or not to be honest.

The Cobra 0427 was put on for me by the Carbra company free of charge!

Thanks for the info Stef,

I was thinking of getting the 3M done, straight after the paint job and trim is done. My car will have virtually zero miles on the clock at that time.

Mind you, that's a fair way off. I have my crated 307kw LS2 & 6 speed triptronic auto, Vintage Wheels, Sumitomos, MX5 seats, wood rim wheel, side mirrors, screen, gauges, lights, switches, dash and every other part including the filler cap, but still waiting for my body/chassis from RMC. Slight hold-up there, but it should be here by the 21.9.07.

It will be painted Ignition Metallic which is that new SS Commodore burnt orange colour with Crema Metallic gold stripes. That's the gold duco from the new Caprice. Cant wait

Baz.

I was thinking the same thing... looks great but almost zero airflow through the radiator - could be a bit of a problem?

Stef

Looks quite good for a one size fits all..

Should do the job. If the radiator heats up it may be an idea to cut that mesh out.

Guys, I will let you know how it goes re heat, now we just need a couple of days like last week, forecast is for rain for the rest of the week and throughout the weekend so the answer might have to wait till next week by the sounds of it.

Bernie, I too was thinking if it gets too hot to just tear off the mesh, D'oh!
