Default Stripes, to taper or not to taper that is the question

I am in the process of organiseing stripes and seem to remember being told that you have to taper them to have them look right, the only measure ments that i have been abkle to come up with are those on the ERA website, any advice would be greatly appreaciated.

If you stripe it, it needs to taper for sure. Looks funny w/o taper.
The FFR site has a diagram that could be used as well as the one from ERA. I have both diagrams somehwere but I'm not on my home computer.

We've just had our Cobra painted and went for tapered stripes, it looks fantastic. I'm not sure if I've seen a Cobra without tapered stripes, but I imagine it would look a little odd.

Not sure this link will help you out, but they have diagrams and measurements of stripes here. Good luck.

Yep, just use those ERA measurements. They are the correct ones for tapered.

A lot of Cobra's around here have non-tapered stripes. Actually non-tapered out number tapered stripes by a fair margin. The casual observer would not notice the difference.

Don't just use those measurements blindly though. Do what you like. For example you could make the stripe narrower where it goes through the oil cooler intake hole. So that the stripes runs inside the hole, not outside of it. My stripes will be 135mm each with 25mm gap in the oil cooler hole. Certainly the look I'm going for.

Definately taper the stripes, I used the measurements from the ERA site and they are perfect. I think they suit the shape of the car better than parallell stripes.

I'm actually from the straight stripe camp.

I've never done tapered stripes and don't regret it for one minute.

It all comes down to personal preference.

Just had to throw some more RMC photos in this thread. Don't you just love that rear.

Stuartt, they are straight as a die. 1" gap, 6 7/8" stripe.

Richard, just for comparison. Boy yours looks like a polished aluminium body in that photo.

Had six or so beers and all looked good..

Before anyone asks, the car does not go STRAIGHT!
A bit better after new seals on the calipers. Now having a bit of suspension work. Should be ready......
Nice blue, Craig. Could be my next paint job!

I think the strips have to be slightly tappered for the visual effect. Straight stripes on some cars just do not look right.

I went to a slightly tappered strip and very pleased.

Sorry, do not have any shots of my butt.
