If any of you that are dragging are able to, I would love to see some you tube footage later.

Good luck

By your MPH Ace you should be running 11's pretty easily i think.
Plenty more in it.

Default Need some practice

It was a good night however I am still struggling to get a good run.

Best time.

60 1.713
330 5.003
660 7.65
mph 96.85
1000 9.915
ET 11.782
mph 121.59
Kph 195.69

I am getting the hang of it, I do a better burn out and tried launching at 3000rpm.

This run I hit the rev limiter every shift.

Hopefully my times wil get lower as I get more confident with the whole thing.

Phil

Still good times there from both of you.

For Ace, on a perfect run the high teens is good for low to mid 11's.

Phil, your mph is good for very low 11's there. You are picking up most of your ET in the last 3/4 of the track.
On a perfect run your car will do a 10, as you said though, it ain't easy!!!

Default On Paper

HI Plums
With a manual trans it is a very difficult 11 seconds to get right.

As you say the perfect run will give me the 10.99 I am looking for.

Drag racing is adictive as you have to be so precise, you know what time you have done before you get the result.

I have said this before it will take time and lots of runs, the car can do it I just need to learn how to drive.

Having heaps of fun trying

Phil

I know what you mean Phil.

Addictive is right.

Even though you know that it's not really doing the car much good, you just want to stretch it a bit more, and crack the next P.B.

The best I've ever managed in the Bumblebee was a 11.997 on fairly ordinary Street tyres.

I have returned a number of times on the race tyres and could only ever manage 12.01., mainly because the Toyos are still rubbish until they get hot.

The stupid thing is, that the bloody difference is only about a metre over the line, but that magic 11's was a terrific feeling.

The other weird and frustating thing is that the finishing m.p.h. often makes you realize that there's a much quicker time to be achieved, if only we could get everything right on the night.

My 11.997 was only at 115.77 m.p.h. over the line, and my 12.01 was around 120 m.p.h....and from what I'm told the m.p.h. is a fair indicator of what is achievable....so although I had a thrill of cracking the 11's...all I could see was how slow I was over the line.

Confuses me totally!

I've been told that the best I would ever expect to get (with traction) is a mid 11, so I know there's a world of difference to get down to 10's, but I would say you'll get there.......it all just has to happen PERFECTLY on the night.

I always had the problem of sitting in the line up waiting, working out every detail in my head, and then when the green light goes losing the plot completely.

There's a bloody lot of things to do in those few seconds, and any minor mistakes costs you another run !!! It's Frustating !!

You've got the weapon to get into 10's and it shouldn't be too long down the track.....about 400 metres I'm guessing!!

Regards,

Warren.

I'm hearing you both...

Years ago I used to race a 5 speed LX Torana in Darwin, I would reasonably consistently run 11.8 at 114 mph, (even won a few meetings). I used to launch it pretty tamely though, and lots of guys would come up and say, "you need to rev it more and dump the clutch", but I also had to drive it home which many of those guys didn't have to worry about... I found a technique that worked and just went with it. To get the shifts right, I had a big shift light that was right in front of my face and as soon as I saw it flash, I'd shift.

Funny thing is, I used to think that I was changing gears lightning fast, that is until I saw the video..... It almost looked like I was driving to Coles to get the groceries

Thumbs up

Well here's a decription of my two runs
This was my first time ever on the strip with the cobra, now with new
slicks I had no idea how I was going to launch, with my other tyres it just fries them so I took off pretty soft in the first run and boy did they grip 12.238 at 116.3 mph
So on the second run I gave it a bit more, actually a lot more hehehe
and it broke traction ran a 12.404 at 118.43 mph

Like you said guys there's a bit practice, trial and error to get a good run
and in a way I'm glad I didnt go faster than 12sec, It would have been get a roll cage for me too from the officials.

Have a look at my first run this is awsome

I thought they kicked you out if you ran faster than 12.99 in an open car, without the full ANDRA spec gear.

Hey Darrell, good to see you again

Good fun last night times were good I suppose for the first time out
I should run quicker than 12's once I get used to the slicks, as for the six speed I dont think you'll even get near fifth, I was crossing the line in fourth
and it was just starting to peak going over the finish line so it shouldn't make much difference with the six speed unless your running a real low diff ratio 4.55 or something like that.

Those japs are quick but like you said you can't beat the sounds of the big V8
You missed the red VL turbo ran a 8.6 then crashed at the end just over the finish line hit both walls left and right I didn't see it Steph rang me and told me
How long before your one is ready you must be hanging !
