Default LS1 Engine Oils

Ok Darksiders What oil are you using. I was sold into some Penrite sn5 for my LS1 engine. I now read on the LS1 Forum synthetic oil seems to equal sludge and ring sealing issues. Do I dump the oil and put something else in. My engine is brand new.

Royal Purple seems to be relatively easy to get as well. I've seen it at Autobahn stores.

And I just love the name.

My tuner recommended Castrol 25-50. So far so good.

COME Racing built my new LS1-383 and I asked them about oil type and he said to use Penrite HPR30 oil especially for the track and with higher ambient temps
like at Winton sometimes.

Thanks guys
I think Purple Royal is on the cards for my first oil change. Surely I will not wreck the engine with with 1 dose of Penrite.

Bruce, not sure where you have sourced your engine from. But if it's 2nd hand and sitting for a while. That new oil you've put in, I would be changing it out after the engine has been brought up to temp a few times. You could have a bit of a build up of contaminents in there. Could be cheap insurance.
