Be interesting when one of their sons gets caught hooning in mums mercedes (overpaid Goverment tossers) then you will see a bit of back tracking.

Well that sounds fair to me!!!!!!!

So the hoon in the $200 banger is equal in punishment to the hoon in the $700,000 Ferrari. Lets take it a step forward, any business man or Company Director who breaks the law whilst working, shall therefore have his assets destroyed. Same for the drug dealer, not only shall his assets be confiscated,
they should all be destroyed, after all - why should the Government be rewarded
with the assests. NOW! ONE STEP FURTHER; Any politician, beaurocrat, public servant or any of the other donkeys that come up with these pathetic ideas to regulate road safety, should break any law they will be subject to the same punishment and then peacefully put to rest by exhaust gas.

Unfortunately the world is run by experts and committees, just look at the state the world is in. (they have no idea)

Quite obviously the "car crushing" will not be for minor offences , like speeding etc... this is for the serial offenders who endanger other lives, one would think. Otherwise they will be crushing an awful lot of cars...

And besides if that means it makes it a bit safer for our kids on the road, wouldn't that be a good thing??? Don't get me wrong, I like to have a good time in the car too, but they won't be crushing the cobra just yet for the odd speeding infringement notice or wheelie, I mean , loss of traction officer...:D :D

I don't know, maybe I'm getting all bent and twisted in my old age :eek: . Maybe I'm becoming a skeptic of bureaucracy.

When we see senior members of police being accused of corruption. When we see DOCS not do their job and innocent young children lose their lives. When we see Centrelink stop welfare for terminally ill patients. When we see State and Federal governments screw around with funding for hospitals to the extent that surgery waiting lists are growing and folks are dying waiting for a simple surgical procedure.

And all this is happening at a time of wealth, low unemployment, Budget surplus, and....according to our PM, we have never been better off!!!

What the hell is wrong with bureaucracy today :CRY: . Don't they realize the threat of having their car crushed will cause some young kids to run. What do we have then?....a police pursuit, excessive speeds, innocent civilians at risk!!!. :mad:

Sorry to vent, I'll get off my soapbox now...... I just work in an industry where we see just too much government bungling of issues that if happened in private enterprise, would see senior managers held accountable.

I don't know how all the other States are managed, but what I do know is that NSW is stuffed. Hospitals - Law and Order - Roads - Transport - everything.

I can't think of one Government area in this State which is managed efficiently and I wouldn't mind betting that the other States in this great Country are the same.

Is it a coincidence that they are all Labour States.

On the other hand, Australia federally is doing quite well. high employment, low inflation, record surpluses.

Over the Liberals term in Government, they paid off a $92 billion debt left by Labour and we are now reaping the benefits.

Do we want the next Federal Government to be as inefficent as our present State Governments. Do we want Unions controlling our work places. Do we want record interest rates and record debt AGAIN! I for one don't.

I agree with the philophosy of "If it's not broken, leave it alone."

I've said enough and I'm not telling you who I'm voting for on 24.11.

On a positive note: The cheif of Police here in Victoria seems to be doing a great job of cleaning up corruption. Pretty impressive when you can get the number 2 cop to resign.

I reckon you can tell if your police chief is serious about cleaning up corruption.

When reporters ask them if corruption exists in their police force the corrupt or incompetant ones (almost all of them) say no! we have the finest most dedicated etc etc. When the reporters asked Christine Nixon she said yes! of course, corruption will always exist in a small portion of the force.

Baz, I'm not getting into the political argument except to say I am not a labour supporter....never have been. However, given you appear to be waving the Liberal flag I'll make these comments.

Whilst all you say federally is correct, one needs to examine a little deeper. Labour introduced compulsory superannuation. A move which turned Australia from being a country with no savings to one with record levels of investment generating huge income.

The repayment of the 92 billion was made possible by selling government assets. Telstra being but one. It's ok to have debt if you have assets. Sell the assets and you can pay off your debt. No different to your private life.

I am against our involvement in the gulf war. Maybe because I'm from the Vietnam era. It is a war we got caught up in based on false threats. ie. weapons of mass destruction.

Now, we talk about a budget surplus. What would that surplus be if we didn't have to fund the $billions it's costing us. Do you think that if we are not involved those dollars would fund the wages of more doctors for our hospitals. Could we build more hospitals, schools, and whatever infrastructure we desperately need.

I suspect that if we were not involved we could solve our infrastructure problem in one stroke of a pen.

The current Federal government has been party to some horrific events. Think about the wheat board bribes. Think about the child overboard reports. Think about the loss of freedom to Australia citizens held under harsh terrorism laws without charge. Think about Centrelink Clients committing suicide because they have been unfairly treated by the feds.

It's about time we held our politicians to task. I don't give a hoot what side of politics they belong.

Of course there's a budget surplus - think of the billions of company tax dollars pouring in from the mining giants and the GST revenue from the past decade. Simple maths, people!

What angers me most is the millions of dollars being spent on prime time election propaganda. We should not allow public money to be spent this way.

Ever thought what you'd do if you were elected as PM?. What radical laws would you enact?.

Here's mine..... Conscription, ie. Two years military service for all unemployed youth between 18 and 25yo.

If they are studying, or have a job, they'd be exempt. However, no overseas duty for any conscripts until completion of the 2 years training. That's what was wrong during the Vietnam era.....we sent conscripts to Vietnam untrained.

This simple change would reduce welfare dollars, would add reserve strength to our military, and train some conscripts in a trade of some type.

Absolutely not Sambo...see my previous post....we shouldn't even be in the Gulf.

Nope, a stronger military would serve to protect our own shores more effectively or be used for protection from terrorists. By protecting our shores I mean that to include the detection of drug running to remote regions of our country and policing of illegal fishing in our waters.

I believe we require a very strong military in the near future as many of our close neighbors become more wealthy or militant.

All true mate. But what we need is solid political debate from our leaders, instead of watching them serving their own interests on television every night. Every election it becomes more and more like the American presidential circus and I'm sick to death of it.

Exactly Sambo, solid political debate happens when one party does not have a majority in the houses.

Maybe we need a second strong party in opposition to help keep them all honest. ;)
