Fantastic engine. But no longer emissions compliant in most of our states.
Mike, looks like the dark side is getting more and more converts.

According to my engineer any US engine after 96 still complies, reason for selling is that I was going to put it in my GT40. There was a lot of work to fit it in my 40, so yes I have decided to go for an Ls engine. Would suit someone who has started the chassis fab to suit this engine from the start.

I would beware of that advice. US engines are not Euro 2 compliant as far as I am aware. The US have different emissions standard which are no longer equivalent to our Euro 2. And as the 4.6lt modular was never complied here to Euro 2 standards it's no longer an option.
I would be very happy if I was proved wrong though.
Did you say GT40...now we are talking.

I have the chassis and suspension that are completed, I have now almost finished making the body, front clip to make and then on to the alloy panels for the chassis.

5.4
If you want to keep your gt40 all ford why not put in the 5.4. We have just finished one with a Boss 290 motor. It's in a Roaring Forties. I like the idea of an LS motor and are just starting another classic revival with a 6.0 litre LS. You know times are tough when Python have seen the light and are putting Ls2 in their chassis.

Craig,
As you are aware (I think) I am putting a 4.6 into a Harrison and the engineer (Ray Cross) has a letter from the commonwealth dept (DOTARS) that covers all the ADR requirements and emmissions. This letter states that all engines manufactured in the US after year 2000 (and imported into Aust) are Euro 3 (US Tier 2 Federal EPA or LEV1 California clean air board) compliant. My engine is out of a 2004 Mach 1 Mustang. Euro 3 is still in place in Aust until 1 July 2008 when the Euro 4 regs are put in place(and then possibly a 3 year moritorium). The enabling legislation for this is already in place and passed by parliment (you can down load a copy of the enabling legislation from the DOTARS web site). The engine in the photo looks like a pre 2000 year model possibly 1996 or thereabouts.
I will be well and truly finished before 1 July 08
Regards
Col Hodson
