Summernats

Hey Tom and Fran,
I am building a bigger shed. The Bubble will be going soon and I have decided not to fix up the EK and will sell that off as well.

Summernats was great, we were picked in the top 60, picked up Best Mural, won 3rd small block NA in horsepower heros.

But best of all in Horespower heros picked up the "engineering Excellence" trophy.

Not going this week end, no worries about the cash, how did the box go.

Phil I would have thought there was lots of them in Aussie?
Or do you have something special lined up.
Bruce

boxhead 01-15-2008 03:54 AM

Phil you will have all ends of the horsepower scale covered,
between the Cobra and a Split screen Kombi.

Surplus

Hi Bruce,
The prices in Australia are very inflated, a similar Bus in Aus is $10 000.00 more, if you can find one.

Boxhead,
The Kombi is when we go for a run when you guys are finished your chev powered cobras. At least in the Kombi I will change into 4th:D :D :D :D

Always loved them.

Now that will be cool with an LS1 transplant...

Philm 01-15-2008 04:05 AM

Not all as it seams,

Close Gav,
Mid mount small block with transaxle, much like a GT40.

Will have a year of negoitiation with engineers and RTA to see if I can get full rego first.

Somewhere way back I saw a video of a Kombi on the Nuremberg race track. It had a porche motor with twin turbos, was seriously lowered with what looked like 335s on the back. The thing was a rocket. I believe the link was published on the Cobra site about 1 1/2 years ago but cant find it now.
I believe Phil may find LS1 Cobras rather lame if he went that way.

Ls1 cobras lame.. please...
I'm thinking Phil that a Z06 rear trans axel with shortened torque tube and the LS7 could make for interesting cruising...

What about kit cars?? Does anyone know about bringing in basic level not assembled body/chassis kitcars?

Outwest34au 01-15-2008 05:08 AM

Tenrocca 01-15-2008 02:16 PM

Is that taupe? (The top half at least) :)

(Dave - westfield? cobra...GT40...now westfield?)

BMK 01-15-2008 02:56 PM

Philm

As the car is over 30 years old you can leave it in left hand drive configuration.

I would talk with Roly Leahy in Queensland as he and his son are constantly bringing in older vehicles and parts.

They have a box or two each month.

What US state is the VW in...confused:....I'm in California and Arizona shortly.

Philm 01-15-2008 03:04 PM

I only want her body;)

I like the colour on a split screen Kombi.

HI Bernie,
Thas for that, the car is in Lake Havasu City Arizona, which is a fare way away from the shipping ports.

The deal is done I have purchased the bus and I am talking with a few frieght companies to work out who I am most comfortable with.

Do you have Rolys Number?

I will convert it to right hand drive, and yes the car being over 30 years old has some concessions like no duty.

I know it is taking a risk but it looks good to me, after all the rubbish we have seen. If it has some problems I can certainly get my money back here in Australia.

sambo 01-15-2008 05:35 PM

Phil if you're having trouble finding any parts for the conversion, speak to Dean at Volkspower down here in Melbourne. He's a top bloke and has shed loads of rare and hard to find bits.

And ask him about the 2.5L twin turbo powered bug!

Wazza 01-15-2008 09:24 PM

Hi Phil,

Roly's shop is in the came complex as Warwick Harrison's Cobra Kits, in Labrador at the Gold Coast.
