Default Importing Cobras

I am sure this has been asked before but some time ago.

If a Cobra was registered in the US as say a 1965, could it be brought into Oz and left as a LHD, and driven with club registration.

I understand because of emissions etc it would be cost prohibitive to bring in a car that was recognised as say a 2007 model, let alone the cost of conversion.

A mate of mine has imported a 64 Mustang and has done exactly that so would it work for a Cobra?

A couple of examples here:

Good Evening FlukeyLuke

If you're a member of the CCCV then - brother - the club has you covered for Club Reg.
Year of build in the US is not as important as the quality of the build. (but 1965 plate certainly won't hurt)

Catch up with me at the next club meeting for a tiresome recitation of 'the rules'.

Yours in Compliance

Mate, I do have to come down to a meeting soon. I have a lot to learn still.
Cheers,
Luke

With club rego you are fine, bring whatever you want.

But basically the registered/titled year of a US vehicle is ignored here in Aus. The transport departments want proof of manufacture date of the chassis. That's definitely the case up here in QLD.

I know - with the exchange rate up the US kits look like great value.

FFR's are exceptionally well priced.

However, now we have a chap up north that can fix us up with (probably the best value) GT40 - but I guess you've got that base covered...

I wonder who that chap is up north.

Seems like more than a few people agree with the value of the US kits. I have now ordered 14 kits from RCR in the US. The first few GT40's are on their way. The first should be here and available for viewing within 4 weeks.
