Thanks Les! Seems they're also known as "crankshaft pilot bearings" in the States.

Thanks Andrew, great photo too.

I think I've opened a can of worms by not going with the stock factory items but it'll be worth it in the long run.

Yep here in the states we call it a pilot bearing. One of the standard things to replace when doing a clutch swap along with the flywheel and slave cylinder. Cheap insurance since you're already in there doing the work.

And yes I do talk funny..

I found a new LS7 clutch kit for sale locally and picked it up on the weekend. Somebody had mentioned that the low reciprocating mass of these LSx engines, combined with a lightened flywheel and the low weight of the Cobra, would mean even more likelihood of wheel spin than usual - particularly when accelerating out of corners. Hence the factory option in favour of Fidanza/etc.

The L98/T56 arrives when we move into the new house (more importantly the new SHED!) in the first week of December.

Are we there yet??
