Baz, If that was the Phil with an M, ie. the Phil who has inappropriate murals painted on his car, then I'd take little notice.
We have proof of his respect for the chev on video. His action in leaping backwards during Andrews first start, and in warning his missus to stand clear, is clear to see. 
The man is just a closet Chev admirer.
