Default Latest update

Well I have been working hard to make a few changes to my Cobra before heading down to the Nationals.

I decided that I wanted to make it all one color, so I went to my panel beater mates shop to order some paint, I told him it was just to squirt some color on to take the car away, he told me that I should rub it all down and take to him and he will put some tinted primer on the car.
He said if I applied a color, I would have to remove it all before painting in 2Pak.
I have also decided I wanted to make the smaller aero style screen that I had been talking about for a while and had floating in my head, it is nothing special at this stage but it does the job.
Here are some pics.

I also bought some Raydot style mirrors.

Here it is this morning, all stripped apart and rubbed down on its way to the panel shop.

I will pick it up tomorrow morning and get it home to apply some stripes then reassemble.

Looks great David.

All it needs now is a better looking seat.

Hey Les,

with all these updates, it makes me curious... how about some progress pics on your car?

You can thank me later

Well I had a good productive weekend, picked the car up from the painter on Saturday morning, all painted in primer.

Then when I got it home I masked up for the main stripes, I did these as per the ERA website info.

I forgot to get some pics when masked up for the pin stripe (but it looked the same).
Here it is all unmasked and striped up, before refitting anything else.

As you can see, the pin stripe in the oil cooler in my opinion looks too "busy" I sould have just painted the edge black and been done with it, but did not see it until all was unmasked. Oh well atleast this isnt the finished product so I will know when it comes time for real paint.

This next pic is pretty close to the actual color, and I have refitted most parts (everything except wheels, roll bar and side pipes)

Here it is with the roll bar and pipes fitted (sorry about the poor light and the dust on camera lens).

Just need to refit the fuel tank after making a boot latch bracket and she will be ready for the Nationals (only 26 more sleeps before I start my drive over from Alice Springs).

Gawd ... that looks great even just in primer. The front oil cooler thing looks good to me.

Is that an epoxy primer?

Hey there Les, Thanks for the comments, it is painted in 2K primer, the painter added 10% yellow tint to the primer.

Hi there LoBelly, yes I was grinning like an idiot most of yesterday, I got a great nights sleep last night (have been un able to sleep the past week thinking how it was going to look)
The rest of the assembly is easy (touch wood).
