My little trip
Well I managed to forget to get the camera out at the Nationals but managed to take some pics along the way both to and from Goulburn.
So here are afew (quite a few so if ya get bored I understand).
Darwin guys, this is what you can look forward too (add a further 1500kls each way).
Leaving Alice on the Saturday morning.
Here is a road sign just outside form Alice Springs, gives an idea of the distance.
Heading into a small dust storm, this is about 250kls south of Alice.
Here I am at the SA/NT border (more red dirt).
This is about 150kls or so north of Coober Pedy, more red dirt and the Cobra is still on the trailer.
All parked away for a sleep at Coober Pedy.
Some more of Australia's lovely countryside, about 200kls south of Coober Pedy.
Passing a train at Lake Gardiner in South Australia.
Some more of Lake Gardiner.
Canola fields in Clare Valley.
Heading home after the Nationals, somewhere west of Wagga Wagga, with a truck slowly reeling me in.
He caught me.
Some dust storms along the Hay plains in NSW, at one stage it was so thick I could only see about 20 metres past the bonnet of the cruiser.
Here is Gav getting ready to pass me.
Getting sucked along behind a truck, about 100kls north of Coober Pedy.
Finally home, Poor Cobra needs a bath.

Great Effort.
Box head it was indeed an epic trip for you and i am glad you got home safe . I hope the nationals was everything you expected and more . You need to start lobbying for a more direct road from Alice to Goulbourne.
Great pics.

Well done for getting there! Truly amazing. One can see why you have to have speed limits up there! (Not!).
Maybe the nationals should be held in Darwin one year?

now that would be good as we do have a top class road racing circuit with a drag strip and lockable pit sheds. The train trip up would not be to bad either so when do you want me to start getting sponsors and costings for this?

Great effort to get there Box.
Sorry I didn't get to chat much at the Nationals, but I thought that you should be congratulated for making such a huge effort, and for bringing a very cool car along for the ride.
Hope to see you there next year.
Regards,
Warren.

Gawd, you'd reckon some of those property owners would both mow and water their front yards wouldn't ya?
I agree with Ross, we often need a reminder how much dirt is out there in Oz with bugga all on it.
Huge effort Box, now ya know what the nationals is all about you'll be well primed for next year.

Les, I am wondering when you will be there with Cobra in tow?
No promises for next year but dead keen for 2010.

No use me taking a cobra to the Nationals Box. A past injury causes me to be un-insurable on any track. Not worth the risk.
I can only be content to watch all you lucky fellas have all the fun.
I'm gonna chat to Mr. Mizzi to have some other attractions at the nationals. I have in mind something like a cobra version of the xxxx Angels to keep me occupied while all you guys are playing on the track.
Mind you, that would mean that Stiffy fella would have to be restrained.

I can see Les organising next years nationals and taking a leaf out of Benders book.
"Next year I'm going to organise my own Nationals. But with gambling and hookers!"

Boxhead,
Good to meet you and great effort to travel so far. As for trailer queens, lets see some pics of others traveling to race meets by trailer. Something about Cobras on trailers.
On the way to Winton
Cheers
Brett

This is what I think is just the ducks nuts for a traveling cobra owner.
This is Hersh's tear drop behind his 40, it would be just as cool behind a cobra.
Inside that van is room for two to sleep, oftenwise audio and DVD players, and at the back under a lift up tailgate, a stove, sink, and icebox.
Perfect for stiffy to rough it, or to camp in at Mount Panorama.

Gees you guys need to look at my earlier thread on Winnabagos for towing convenience.
Have a look at the pics in my thread titled Marty's nightmare for a weird combo.
David you forgot to mention the beer the night before to give you moral courage to go.
I distinctly remember urging you to over come your travel fears, cause it was only a 4,000 odd km round trip no??
Cheers
Steve
