Passed Rego!
Well today was yet another fantastic Cobra day...I got through rego without a hitch!
I must say that I was a bit nervous driving the cobra down to the inspection yard, but I have to say that the inspectors were fantastic...there was so much interest in the car, that about half the boys in the office came out to check out the car! At one stage, there must have been 8-10 guys checking out the Cobra and asking all sort of questions! The LS7 caused a bit of a stir as it was the first LS7 any of the guys had seen and at one stage there was a bit of confusion with 3 inspectors in a huddle discussing whether or not a 7 litre motor was street legal...an explanation by me about it being a new crate motor and identical to the motor that is in the new W427 commodores followed by a telephone call from the inspector to one of his colleagues resolved the confusion!
Apart from getting the car rego'd...driving the cobra around for the 1st time was unbelievable....I couldn't stop grinning! I'm still grinning! It was a beautiful day, the sun was out, I clocked up about 120 kms got sunburnt, but had an absolute ball!
It's everything I've been anticipating for so long and more...
Regards......Paul

New rego
Congratulations Paul sounds like your enjoying the ride already. I'm sweating on a letter from Vic roads to tell me I can resume driving again.
Cheers,
Bryan

Well done Paul. It's encouraging to hear some of the authorities in this country are still taking a practical approach to rego. Bet you can't wait to run it against a W427 (on the track of course).

Well Done Paul,
I can see the silly grin from here, I hope you went looking for Corvette's yesterday - 'just like ol' Shelby did all those years ago'.
Friday was a perfect day for going over the pits, compared to the rest of this week.
Which run will you be coming on?
Nov 16 - Stringybark restaurant up in Chittering.
Nov 22 - RMC Open day & BBQ for the Club to see their two new alloy Cobra's
Nov 26 - Club meeting, (last one for this year)
I am glad it has gone well for you Paul and I can't wait to see and hear it.
Cheers,
Harry.

Fantastic news Paul.
Any dyno info on that beast you've put together?
It sounds like a perfect fit for the SPF coupe

A big thanks
Thanks for all the comments guys...had another fantastic day cruising around yesterday, taking mates and family members out for a ride...any excuse at all to get out in it!! Still smiling like a cheshire cat!!
Bryan - I can understand the anticipation you have waiting for the "green light" from Vic Roads to get out in your Cobra again!
Sambo - Yes, I'm looking forward to getting on a track to stretch my cars legs a little....After a couple of days in my car...I'm under no illusion that my abilities can match it with my cars abilities at the moment, but with time, practice and some tips from those who have better skills, I aim to match it!! I'm taking a few comments from some newly established friends (from the Nationals) very seriously..."...watch that right foot and remember to gently squeeze!!..."
Mitch - Thanks - you're welcome "down under" anytime!
To all my new friends from the Nationals - thanks and I look forward to seeing you all again next year but this time with a car!
Cameron - Wind, sunburn, noise, smiles, grins, more smiles and who cares about the horses!
Harry - Couldn't find any Corvettes or Cobras, but I still had a ball! I'll PM you about catching up with you and the WA club guys!
Richard - yes I posted a month or so ago the following link put together by Mark at Mark's Workshop who installed the motor/gearbox after he gave it it's first dyno tune. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=mY2EYgsFXf8
Ben - yes I was expecting a little more difficulty with Rego because as we all know, if any inspector took the letter of each of the rules, they could make it difficult for any Cobra. I was just thankful that the inspectors really were pragmatic and that everything went well! I've heard of so many horror stories and that made me a little nervous I suppose, so I just approached the day with the expectation that they may pick up on a couple of points and give me a list of things to address and that I'd go back again in a couple of weeks...So when the inspector said everything was in order, I simply smiled up at the cobra gods!
Bobby - Good to catch up yesterday, yes, get yours across the line and let's go for a drive!
Merv - I'll try to post a few more shots later this week - having too much fun driving it at the moment!!
Thanks again to all the supportive comments guys!
Regards.....Paul
