Default Helpful engineers

Hi everyone, I know I asked this once before and only had 1 name supplied due to concerns that interstae engineers would not be recognised.

Well due to slow or no responses from the only engineer in the NT, I have been in contact with the NT MVR and was advised by them that I can use any engineer in any state of Australia.

So for those who have been engineered or are in the process of engineering, who have you used and how Cobra friendly where they?

I have been in contact with one interstate firm and they on initial contact seem to be very positive toward the idea.

I am just trying to get a second or third opinion,

Thanks for your time.

Boxhead, I am using Bernie from Enkelmans in Melbourne. He seems to be very practical and professional to deal with. I am booked in for Dec 8 for Engineering. Most times I ring to check on something he is available and is happy to chat. He also understands Cobras and our challenges.

A few other Melb people have used him in the past and from my observations have had similar experience to me.

Hi Boxhead
I eventually used Rory Thompson in Adelaide and he was fantastic.
From everything i went through with engineers the only advice
i could give is
Try to use an engineer that has already certified what ever brand kit that you are constructing. Then he already has done all the tests for chassis, lane change etc so it should be better for cost and time frame.

Regards
Paul

Thanks Gregg, Enkleman's is who I spoke to yesterday, Bernie was out at the time so I was speaking to John.
He seemed very helpful and willing to work with me, so that was great.
There was a few questions I put to him that he advised I was best to talk to Andrew Enkleman directly about, so I will be ringing him on Monday.

The question I had is that due to distances, the engineer in Darwin had confirmed I could employ a seperate local engineer to be his "eyes and ears" to carry out the testing and inspections, to save the cost of me getting the car to him, or getting him to the car.
I am hoping to find an interstae engineer who is willing to work under this condition aswell.
Fingers are crossed that Andrew is willing to do this, A bonus on that fact is that Bernie has already approved a number of CR's with the same driveline as my car.

Thanks very much for that Paul, do you have a contact number for Rory (Adelaide is only a easy 2 day drive away)

Hi Boxhead
Rory's number is (08) 8258 0796
I dont think he has done a CR kit.
You might be best asking the other CR guys who they have used.
I wasted 3 years with an engineer who didnt know what he was doing. So
please research alot first.

Regards
Paul

Hey David

I can second Gregg's comments on Bernie as he did my car. But I'm guessing you may loose a lot of his practicality / on the spot knowledge going through a remote set of eyes.

If you're able to go this route, I'd suggesting getting the engineer to specify a sort of scope for your local fellow to follow off. That way you should not have too many issues and the certifying engineer is driving the ship.

Good luck!
