Default FFR Coupe #385

Today was the big day for the Coupe, I got it weighed (1060kg)and inspected at the rego dept. After a few scary moments the inspector announced that the Coupe had passed and I could collect my plates from the office.......I guess I ran in there got my plates while Ricky loaded the car back on the trailer. We got out of there before they could change their minds.

Wow what a feeling to be registered and free from the system. I think this is the first FFR built and regoed in Oz....correct me if I'm wrong. Hoping this helps others that are thinking about building an FFR in Oz. It can be done.

Hey Stiffy,
Your time will come soon I know. I failed Engineering the first time aswell, door handles, locks, mirrors. I got 87db on the noise test.....The engineer said he had not heard a quieter car. Funny thing is the pit guy told Ricky the car was dangerous, I asked why and he said it needs to make more noise or someone will step out in front of me and get hit...."you need to make it louder he said".......Ok

Plans are to recover fully from my back injury then get started on the car again. Ricky V a good friend of mine did all the driving and loading for me. I just signed paper work.

Stiffy ,what door handles are you going to use??? I still am not sure if I will keep mine.

Default Handles

Albany,

Doug Pearce has sources some Corvette door handles. They recess into the top of the door (so you cannot see them) and are an easy install (still cutting into the body) but they are located near the mechanism so it should be an easy fit (For Doug, difficult for me)

Ha Ha similar story. The car looked bad with under body exhaust, no windscreen,no paint and very quiet. As I left, a garage fly said "that car would look good with a roll bar and a paint job (der) and the engineer (That just passed it) added " and sound better with side pipes !"
My smile grew that little bit wider.

Hi Albany.

Just been going back over some of your old posts regarding your build of the FFR Daytona. Was glad to see it went together well aside from the shipping issues (yikes!)

Just regarding the RHD conversion, I noted you say you used a Cortina TF rack. How similar is that rack to being a RHD version of the mustang rack? Was it a power rack?

Thanks for the build info here. And PS, the info on the new GT40 build is excellent as well.
