Cool Time to pick a colour!

Its time to get serious about paint colours, what are your thoughts of the following colour combinations?

That Red with Black stripes I what Í plan to do mine in. Probably with black side pipes and roll bar though. I've already done the wheel centers black.

With all the Yellows and Silvers people have been doing their cars lately I reckon the traditional Blue with White stripes will be in the minority soon.

Mando,

I have only pictured you in the traditional Blue/white stripes for your weapon.

Ferrari red perhaps...

I'll 3rd that - a few too many silver these days. Blue and white - cant go wrong. I personally like the gaurdsman blue\wimbledon white.

I'm going for Black with Silver stripes (for the moment).

Good luck with your pick Mando I think its almost harder than picking which manufacturer for your kit.

I met a painter at the club meet the other day who said to also have a look at non-Cobra's for colours - i.e. He said for me to have a look at a Black with a pearl finish. He said Honda do one. Not bad advice given all of the new paints that are constantly coming out.

Anyway, each to their own I say - its a real personal choice that you have to really like. Its also the most visible thing on your car so you have to like it.

my 2 cents worth.

Rgds

Somehow Mando I always pictured your car in the traditional blue and white.

With the quality of your car so far any color is going to make it look great.

Lots of blue options here and here.

I'm fond of Lexus indigo ink:

There is also a Porsche ("Midnight"?) blue that is very, very dark. I was thinking recently during my own thread on colours, how few cars seem to have a non-metallic paint these days. They can be nice and even fewer cars use brown or tan as a colour. Could look good.

You make a good point on the metallic issue. I had mine painted 69 chevelle red. It is just red, not metallic red, just red. On the other hand I kind of wish I would have left it green. The non metallic paint kind of goes with the car.

Non metallic suits these cars IMHO.

Taupe refers to a dark grayish-brown color. The word "taupe" derives from the Latin name for the European Mole, Talpa europaea.

Hello All,
I'm new to this forum and yes I'm planning on a replicar in the near future. The color topic attracted my eye. But, why are only the Aussie's replying? I don't get it. 209

Hi 209,

Welcome to the forum. The reason for mainly Aussies replying is this post is in the Australian Cobra Club section of the forum. We don't mind who psts in here but you tend to get more Aussie specific cobra stuff in here.

If you have a look in the forum index you will find there's sections for a bunch of different things. There's probably even a Club chapter close to your home town that has a forum section on here.

This is a great resource for finding out about Cobras. It's also a great place to meet like minded people and make new friends.

Happy posting.

Non-metallic colours do suit the car and the vintage of its source.

Thanks for all the comments, I really like the orange with black stripes but I dont think Ive got the balls for it. When I started the build in 2002 I always thought my car would be blue with white stripes, I guess Im still leaning towards the blue/white combination.

Regards.

You should look at Geof's - Cob 07.

I think if you're going to have stripes they should be a stark contrast to the body colour.

For example I don't know that black stripes on a dark blue body really work

The Orange /Black combo looks great.

I am in 2 minds about the "flashy" colors being used on these cars.
Looking at the current range of colors on a Commodore, I think the Atomic Green and Ignition are fantastic colors, but not sure if they suit a Cobra.
Where as a British racing green (or Bunnings green) is more suited.
I also really like the Metalic Orange used on Ford Focus, but not sure about this color on a rounded body shape like the Cobra (This color is on the verge of a possablity on my Valiant Charger)
I am in 2 minds about the Orange in your Pic Mando, I think it looks fantastic, but like you not sure if I could live with it.
