Tyre pressures

Can any of you good people out there suggest some tyre pressures that would suit around town driving. I have a Python kit with Yokohama 352 front & rear 235/60/15 F & 295/50/15 R. Not the greatest tyres in the world but they did get me through engineering without busting me open and I dont feel like throwing them away until I've taken some rubber of them !!

Chris, I run 34 psi on my late model VW GTI and during an advanced driving day at Sandown they put everyone's tyres up to 38. I won't hazard a guess at the ideal pressure for your Cobra, but whatever you go with, don't rely on the accuracy of the pressure gauge at the servo... they've been known to be out by 5-10 psi. We were told this can be due to the hose being shortened to fix a leak and not being recalibrated, among other reasons. Food for thought!

For cruising - 20 PSI front, 18 PSI back. It's a light car with big tires. Put some rubber on the pavement.

Garage air pressure is always suspect. I reckon as long as the pressures are the same for each tyre its OK for cruising. I always check for the right pressure with my own gauge at home.

I forgot to add... Factory tire pressures are for the optimum ride comfort so it is necessary to raise the pressures a few pounds to obtain a better handling performance. If you've got a decent tyre supplier he will be able to recommend the correct pressure. Don't hold your breath ! Try talking directly to the manufacturer via google or whatever. I got a really good response from Yokahama regarding tyre age and storage care.

If you don't run a low pressure in those 295 rears you will wear out the centre of the tyre quite quickly.

And unfortunately it's always the rear tyres that wear out first on a Cobra.

I run 24 PSI in front and 16-18 PSI in the rears......same size tires as you run!!
