Default LSD oil for BTR LSD

Posting in here as I 'think' the BTR LSD is more popular in your neck of the woods!

I have been variously told that the following 'maybe' right. I would be interested to know if there is a recommended spec or whether either of these is suitable.

Castrol SAF-XJ
Mobil SHC80W140
Valvoline GL-5 LS

Cheers,
Paul

FWIW Paul I have very good luck with both Castroil and Valvoline and others I know seem to think the Mobil is the best oil out right now. I don't think you can go wrong with any of your choices.

Thanks Clois, I will run to NAPA this morning to see what they have.

Wasn't sure if the BTR had any special requirements or need for additives.

Just a thought. Anyone know how much I will need?

I just used a Mobil diff oil to suit late model LSD's.
Remember to add the oil additive to your diff oil. It comes in a 100ml bottle.
The rear end will feel as though there is a CV joint about to fail if you don't.

I may or may not be speaking from experience.
The extra set of drive shafts I own prove it!

Thanks Gav, which additive?

I now have it on good authority from a TVR mechanic (TVRs use the BTR) in the UK that they use Mobil SHC 80W 140 ID for both the BTR LSD and Hydratrak.

http://www.mobil.com/Australia-Engli...ube_SHC_ID.asp

He makes no mention of additive though?
