Hi Max,

There's the Cobra Car Club of Victoria (CCCV) and the Malbourne Cobra Owners Club (MCOC).

The CCCV is the original Victorian club and the largest. The MCOC was formed a couple of years back after a couple of members had a falling out (it was a sad time as no one wants to see disagreements in a club).

The MCOC seems to be dominated by guy's with Laurie Bongalias's kits so if you are building one of his cars it may be a good one to join.
That being said there are still plenty of Laurie's cars in the CCCV so the support is there too.

I'm a menber of the CCCV as are probably most of the Vic members on here. I think the MCOC guys have their own area of the net where they hang out.

Personally I like the CCCV. They are a nice bunch of people and there are plenty of events of all types to keep you ammused. There's a big base of technical knowledge in the club on all types of Cobra. There doesn't seem to be any bias for or against any type of cobra either. Plus there's enough of us dark siders in the club now to keep these ford blokes honest too.

Come and see us at ShelbyFest at Winton next weekend and judge for yourself.

Cheers

Anyone can come to ShelbyFest regardless of club affiliation.
Come along a talk to all the guys, check out the cars.

Check out the events the clubs have held over the last couple of months to see what interests you. The CCCVic have over 100 members, and a few also have membership with Melb.COC, that may be an option if your unsure.

Hi Max,

As Aussie Mike has said there are the two clubs - both mainly Cobra owners. The VCCC has some GT40 owners and Mustang owners.

The Melbourne Club are very into cruising and weekend events. Although, I am a member of VCCC I plan on attending some of the Melbourne Club events and cruising.

The VCCC run some major auto events - the Shelby Fest in 7 days - and also have a number of cruise events including the Phillip Island Classics, The Great Alpine cruise, Picnic at Hanging Rock. All Ford Day, Great Ocean Road Cruises etc. etc.

From memory the Melbourne gang mainly have one style of kit whereas the VCCC members have a real mix of different kits - about 11.

As Mike suggested come along to Shelby Fest and Winton, both clubs will have participants and members there.

Maxwell,

You are welcome to come up to Shelby Fest. We will be at Winton Raceway on Saturday 21st March and the Wangaratta Saleyards on the Sunday for the Motorkhana. There will be heaps of people there you can chat to about their cars and get a good look at the various kits.

Please give me a call if you want more information. Check the website for my details www.cobracarclubvic.org.au

Cheers

Yep, it's a weird old situation down there that's for sure, and not being fully aware of the politics that led to this unfortunate fracturing of your ranks, I probably shouldn't comment. But truly, such a thing in Queensland would be totally inconceivable.
At the first sign of any friction our new slimline President Woz would be in there cajolling, embarassing, and yes abusing the crap out of the warring parties (in the nicest possible way of course) until everyone had realised the error of their ways and shook hands over a Bundy or three. It's called Queensland diplomacy, and Woz is a champion practitioner of the art.
If you want to see how a fantastic club is managed, come up to one of our monthly breakfasts at glorious Sanctuary Cove. You'll need a thick skin, but you'll be made to feel very very welcome, and you'll go away with a smile from ear to ear.

Sounds like we had a few converts from "Waxers" to "Racers" after the Shelbyfest !!

Excellent stuff !!

I'd love to get something going for the Southeners to come up and enjoy..

We have a new "Racing co-ordinator" after last week's AGM...

Known on this forum as TUF-427...he's the very capable Peter Hancock ( a.k.a. "Chunky" )

The previous racing co-ordinator , Warwick Harrison, did an excellent job, but now he's much too busy with a difficult and impatient new client to continue in the job, and Chunky is perfect for the position.

I can report that I also kissed enough babies in the campaign period to jag another year as President.

More fool them I say !!

Stay tuned for any upcoming news on an event that will entice the Southern Whores...I beg your pardon....Hordes .....to our fair state.

Cheers,

Warren.

Dont need to leave Oz to find yaself in quarantine steeler. Bird flue, mad cow disease, equine virus and bush ticks are all causes for any citizen of Oz to find themselves quarantined.

The worst affliction, and terribly contagious in Southern States, is beatcanetoaditis so quarantine becomes necessary.

Gawd Wazza, that New south welshman would wanna have been thru a dip before ya shook his hand.
