My first drive

Hi,

Well it's taken about 30 years but we finally have a Cobra.

Leanne and I went for our first drive yesterday. Actually the first one ever in any Cobra.

Kudo's to Warwick Harrison for getting the car together wthin a fairly tight time frame and to my wife Leanne for being 'Project Manager' in my absence and never asking how much it cost.

Congrats Geoff. One very clean looking Harrison! Love the deep dish with that custom rear end. What diff ratio comes with that setup?

Not a Collingwood supporter are you? :)

The first pic is close to someone elses color choice.

Very nice looking car.

Geez Geoff you are fortunate to have a Project Manager! I saw it at various stages and it is looking great. I am sure it performed well too. Now for the engineering and rego processes.

Well done to the two of you.

Merv

Mando 04-02-2009 01:53 AM

Great looking car, beautiful finish.

Regards.

Rebel1 04-02-2009 03:03 AM

Very nice.....White is a great color for glass cars.

Project managers don't have to ride in the car ... do they?

Fantastic

Geoff

Congratulations indeed!!!

I dropped into Warwick's this evening and saw your car in the flesh and you have good reason for being happy. The colour is gorgeous and the contrast between the colour and the stripes and the interior is brilliant.

Well done.

Geof

Wow!

You certainly have one of the most stunningly elegant Harrisons I'd ever seen!

Your custom IRS and deep dish wheels look a treat. Is that something that Warwick has as a standard feature, or was it your own doing?

Kind regards.

Stephen.

Looks the same as what I got Warwick to do for me 12 months ago good to see some else has taken it on board, same wheels too but yours are polished.

Thanks Paul. Had a long talk with Mal Wood who suggested a 3.9 diff to match the close ratio box.

Collingwood? I wouldn't think so, damn I'm going to have change the colour  Actually it's not black, just a dark grey.

Go the .... 'enter Gold Coast AFL team here' ...!

Cheers

Thanks Geof.

We tried to keep it clean and simple, with a touch of implied sophistication

It was a challenge trying to do any of this from 12,500km away.

Cheers

Thanks Rebel1.

White is good for glass anything. You don't see many (any) dark wings on composite aircraft.

This PM has a permanent seat. She has ridden the hot seat in my past rally cars a few times.

Cheers

Tenrocca, Boxhead & Mando...thanks for your kind words.

Can't wait to rack up some miles. Would be good if the rain would stop :(

Cheers

Thanks Stephen,

The rear end is a Warwick Harrison option.

Thanks HSV300,

I'm not sure whether it's the same as yours, it is very closely related to Peter Beehag's car though.

The polished wheels came about as I felt that the white needed some bling to stop it looking too bland especially as it is sans side exhausts.

Thanks Merv.

Leanne's PM role was far more productive than my Saudi efforts I can tell you. Helps to have good people around though. I have to say that not one supplier let us down during the long distance procurement process.

Cheers

You were fortunate then. I am still getting the VIN (number) arranged at the Sunshine Coast in between visits to the hospital... but there is discernable progress.

How did it drive? I guess you could only go out on the highway near Warwicks?

Hi Merv,

Did the police check today at Broadbeach. Got soaked in the process, is this some kind of initiation?

I have a trade plate which allows some freedoms :D

Car drives really well out of the box, much better than I thought it would. A few minor niggles but that is to be expected. Amazed how light the clutch is. Haven't used 6th gear yet :(

It was my daughters 13th birthday on Friday so I picked her up from school in Terranora. None of our kids knew that the build was in progress so big surprises all round.

Great pics Geoff! Love the videocam at the back! I am sure that your daughter will get some questions tomorrow. You might have to do a few more trips. Trade plates! Jealous! Looks great. I think I have similar sill protectors to the ones you have.

Merv

Krait 04-06-2009 06:56 AM

Thanks Merv. We were sooo lucky with the weather, could have easily turned out badly.

My twin boys have been pestering me for a run as well, will sort that out tomorrow.

Unfortunately trade plates can't be used on weekends generally so the car was tucked up in the garage.

Back to the sandpit on Thursday.

Cheers
