Default Pulls slightly to the Left under hard braking

Hi All,

Just finished all the things I needed to do prior to painting and was doing a final "shakedown" drive and noticed under very hard braking there is an ever so slight pull to the left.

Wasnt sure if it was the road camber or not, but thought I'd ask the suspension guhrus for some suggested things to check.

Background information:
I am pretty sure my tyre pressures are the same but will double check.

Have fitted new RB74 RACEBRAKE PADs on the front and COMP2 on the rear. Only done about 20Ks with them. So might not be bedded in properly yet.

Had a wheel alignment done prior to Engineering and Rego. I am assuming that was done ok.

Suspension height is about 5mm different on front (i.e. Spring pre-loads)

Let me know what you think - put it this way its not a show stopper but I thought I'd ask, I might learn something.

Also does anyone have any low-tech ways to check Camber as I think my rear has a bit too much.

Default bedding in.

Hi it could be the fact that the pads ahve not fulley bedding yet it also could be a little air in the line which will cause it to pull or even in some cases i have found that the caliper seals have not fully settled and pull the pistons back further on one side. its not likely to be alighnment though it its out a lot it could cause a pull. hope this helps .

Happened to me when I changed the pads on a cobra I used to have. Had a wheel alignment which sort of helped but it just got better with time!

I think your right Richard, I remember reading your thread now.

It was ok prior to the new pads and I have re-bled the fronts as I also put in new braided hoses.

It didnt do it prior to the new pads so I suppose I just have to drive it more and it should get better. What a shame.

If it hasn't been said yet, check your calipers.

Make sure your pads are free to move.

Thanks for the tips.

Will be checking calipers/pad movements etc and driving a bit more to bed in.

Was only a very very slight pull to the left so am not too worried.

If you fit a windsor engine there would be more weight over the front wheels which may help?

Default Can you swap pads from side to side

gjkrv8 Gregg can you swap pads from right side to left? If so do it and see what happens. If it pulls left you may still have air in the brake lines or a pinch in one, if pulls right, it's the pad material. Did you break in the brakes easy for the first 500 miles?? If not you could have glazed the rotor and this will give you poor grip between the pad and rotor surfaces. Try the swap first and bleed the system again. Rick L. Have to ask How much you weight?? Was the car alignment done with your weight in the drives seat? Same for ride hieght.

Good suggestions Rick, I will swap the PADs around.

Initially to bed them in I only done minor stops from 100kph to 80kph.

Then did a couple of full stops. Rotors look ok.

I am about 77 Kgs (or 170 pounds) and didnt do the alignment or ride height with me in the car.
