North Qld Run
Hi guys,
The North Queensland Group is planning a short run from Townsville to Paluma on 23rd August. The Townsville 400 (Ford won again for those that hadn't noticed - FORD Power once again ) has gotten us off our respective bottoms and organised a local run. We have had a number of new Cobra's come into the NQ region of late and can count approx 14 cars between Mackay and Cairns.
Anyone visiting the area is always welcome to join in.

Was up there for the Townsville 400 what a great place for the race perfect weather lots of cold beer and plenty of eye candy. Saw a couple of Cobras on The Strand on Sunday morning one black and gold the other was red i think will be back up when mine is finished.
Cheers Greg

Sounds great. Best time of the year too. I plan on visiting my mate in Cairns again before long to kill some more 'trout and would like to see any Cobras up that way!

Guys & gals
you are always welcome in Sunny Nth Qld. Yes the Townsville 400 was a resounding success. unfortunately the organisers didn't seem that interested in having a bunch of cobra's in the muscle car show or to drive the Race drivers around the track. We are already working on remedying that situation and a number of the guys are considering buying a block of corporate tickets for the Cobra people, so that we can be wined and dined in air conditioned comfort whilst watching the races. Life's just so hard in these recession times whilst living in paradise .
HSV 300
give us a call next time you are in town or if you come up next year and we can make sure you are part of the get together.
Anyone else considering coming up next year, I have a lockable compound just 5 mins walk from the race track, so parking is free, own key to the gate and overnight security if you decide that you shouldn't drive home. All cobraphiles welcome. I'm sure there would be a few beds available amongst the local cobra owners for visitors as well.
As I said before, all are welcome, and we have a great bunch of people up here that just love talking and showing their Cobra's to anyone that shows any interest and other cobra enthusiasts.

Sounds great Col. I lived in Townsville for 10 years at Belgian gardens and later in Vincent, but it is so different now.

Gawd Merv, I also lived in Townsville for 10 years.
Mundingburra then Pimlico ... Office in South Townsville.
Wished I was still there.

I could something here but I will show discretion .... However,
Was a great place back then with the golf group I was in - called the Early Worms.. Always hit off at the Bulletin advised time of dawn on a Sat morning. Lots of lost balls on the first tee, even a few lost buggies at times (4 strokes penalty). I think wives and partners were called "Other Ends" or something similar. Never understood that. Annual Trophy was the "Silver Tray" (a wooden tray with a three pence coin glued on it). Certainly no Cobra around there. Only taipans.

Hehehe, I was in with the Townsville Yacht club mob sailing trimarans ... Commodore of Vice for a while. The Commodore was a Lt. Col. and PMC at Laverack so we used a lot of defence assets to enhance our yachting pastime.
Spent every Easter on Dunk and various Whitsunday Isles during the Whitsunday festival. Vague recollections of maiden figure heads on many yachts around the Whitsundays.
Good years.

I think we should leave these guys get on with their thread - they might not want us ever return to the North, Cobras or not.
(PS Used to be in the Cruising Yacht mob - around Magnetic and up the coast)
