Rear Axle Alignment

I am putting to gether my cobra with a 9" rear axle and coilover suspension. The rear axle is 1/2" offset farther to the passenger side of the car. I also measured the distance between the front spindles and the center of the rear axles. It is 1/2 shorter on the passenger side. Is this correct? Am I doing something wrong here?
