Default 8.8 axle

Hi guys, A new owner here. In sept i bought a completed car. The previous owner installed a brand new 8.8 rear but never thought to have it narrowed. Now its my problem. Do any of you know what width of the b$b 9 inch is narrowed too. I will probably have be a custom size because of the wheel of the wheel size and offset. Also dealing with the running hot issue but have that decision almost made(taurus fan). Your help would be greatly appreciated. Ed

You have any pictures of your car showing the wheels from the back?

On your post at the end it mentioned Bryan Anderson. Is he with B&B or is he at lonestar Classics?

I am glad you asked this question, I'm in the same boat, my 8.8 is factory width and the tires rub on the wheel wells under hard bumps. As for the fan, I installed a Mark 8 fan from fanconversion.com, and it works great, even when it was 110 here in Ok this summer it never got hot.

Default 8.8 rear

Ed here, I wound up measuring inside clearances from the tire side wall and took it to mike fortes parts connection to be narrowed 4''. 2'' per side. For comparison sake the cost will be 510.00 with new axles. He is very knowlegable on the cobra and has a very extensive shop, including an engine dyno. Check his website. Ed

erudolph, I checked my notes and my 9" is 56 1/8" axle flange to flange that the rotors mount to on my B&B. Getting the back spacing just right for the various wheels is the hard part.
