why the wide roll bar?

ive seen from pictures that some original cars had wider roll bars, much like the B&B bar, though i dont know if any of them were originally on the car.

just wondering why the B&B uses the wider bar. Safety?

Although I actually like the looks of the original style roll bar more,....the full width rollbar is the ONLY way to go for real safety. Second best is twin traditional roll bars. I figure my passenger deserves the same protection as I do, even though any roll bar is minimal protection, it's all we get in a cobra

you are correct about safety, however hopefully the one roll bar will never be needed (dont we all hope that).

however, i was not talking about a full width roll bar (not sure if thats what you thought i meant), rather the standard drivers side bar:

I don't question since Bryan has his reasons for making things certain sizes.
Is that you L. K.? If it is, originally your cars color looked a little funky. But after being around it every day, it grows on ya. Looks really sharp. I like it.

Thanks for the word on the color, Viper Blue was my choice but he really wanted the car to match our 64 mustang.

Cant wait to pick the car up

(we just got our truck back from having it prepped to do the hauling)

It was late at night, and I was rambling on as to rollbars in general. If I had to have just one original (sort of) style roll bar, it would be the wider type pictured. In a side inpact or roll (it can happen) it might help protect the driver better (me)

If at some point you decide to install a shoulder harness and want to order the cross member shoulder harness attachment from Enzo at Finish Line be sure and tell him you have a B&B Kit Bryans roll bar is 15 3/8" inside diameter and Enzo furnishes a 14" stainless steel stabalizer bar, works great and looks good too. I had to make some adapters for mine.

A wide 5 pt. rollbar is far safer in a potential roll over than any low 3 pt. rollbar as is thought of as standard (Most are just too low to be of much help). The double rollbar can be designed, built and installed for just a little but more than a single, it's just the economy of safety that comes into play there.

Sadly some of us have had car's upside down, mine was a Gymkana racer; a 2CV Renault with a twin cam and Gordini transmission. It also had a 6 point roll cage and the roll over was slow enough that the car was righted and I finished the races for that day and the roof was replaced later and I was back before I lost any points in the season.

The only change I'd make to this all business rollbar is a forward braced (FIA Style)support bar into the side of the passenger compartment.
