go big,

Unfortunatelty, my gas gauge doesn't work. I bought the car complete, so I'm making my way through it to de-bug. I haven't got around to fixing this yet. My existing tank, which is a steel tank from an ('89?) Mustang, has two senders - an upper and a lower. Here is what I've figured out so far.

Gauge/Sender - Resistance
Empty - Ohms
Full - Ohms

Faria Gauge - Unverified
240
33

Ford 1(my upper sender)
73
10

Ford 2(mylower)
16
158

I have found that the bottom line is that neither sender is compatible with the unverified Faria Gauge spec.

If the Faria gauge is as above, the only reasonable solution that I can come up with is to:

Buy, modify, and install a Faria or Stewart-Warner “Universal” sender in the lower section of the tank.

Best cost estimate - $25 + tax + shipping for a Stewart-Warner (could not find price for Faria)

Will need to modify the sender to fit my tank depth (a feature of the sender) and mounting flange (not a feature of the sender).

Could be made to accurately send very close to “E” when tank is empty, and close to “F” when full.
