Default Brass radiator

Someone can have my brass radiator for shipping only. I replaced the brass radiator with an aluminum one with a shroud because it could not cool my 460 FE when stuck in stop and go traffic. It was built in 2002. First taker get's it. Chas

Chas,

What radiator did you replace it with? I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

Rich, your welcome.

Paul, I bought the AlumaTech from B&B. They installed a shroud for my 16" puller fan. I only had to put nutserts in for the fan and drill the holes to match up with frame mounts. So far it has not gone over 100 degrees C. So far it runs a little hotter cruising(92 degrees at it's hottest) but is running cooler in stop and go. But the weather has been cooler the last two weeks(70's) so I won't know for sure until the weather gets hotter. Chas

I've read lots of stuff about overheating, especially with big blocks. I recently install a 427 (stroked 351). I had overheating problems. I was going to try the aluminum radiator route, but instead, installed a small shroud between the top of the radiator and the body, forcing the air to go through, instead of up and over the radiator. I also contacted B&B and had them send me the two additional fans for the front of the motor. You may find something cheaper, but the B&B comes with the correct brackets, and is very easy to install. So now I have the copper radiator that came with the car, a 16" puller fan that came with the car, the shroud, and the two front fans. No problems. The shroud alone made a huge difference. I have the two fans on a separate switch, and have only had to use them in serious stop and to traffic. Since I did all of this, I have never run over 200 degrees.
