Question 3.8L Taurus Fan

I understand that a lot of street rodders are using the 3.8L Ford Taurus radiator fan. It has great CFM numbers and has a shroud that could be trimmed to possibly fit a B&B. Has anyone attempted to make one of these fit a B&B with the standard radiator?

Default Taurus Fan Update

The Taurus fan is going to work out great. I'm using the fan out of a 1990-1995 Taurus with the 3.8L engine. You can also get one out of a Lincoln Continental or a Mercury Sable of the same years. I picked it up from a salvage yard for $20. Depending on who you talk to, it blows 3800-4500 cfm at about 32-35 amps. After a very small amount of trimming, the shroud covers the entire back of the radiator perfectly top to bottom and leaves about 1" of radiator fins showing on each side. There is one spot on the passenger side of the shroud that needs to be filled in to make a nice fit against the fins... and one hole on the top that I filled in with aluminum sheeting. I also had to space the radiator out 1" at the bottom to get the fan to clear the steering gear. I just spoke with Flex-a-lite today and they have a variable speed controller that will handle the current draw of this fan.

Be sure you get the fan from the 3.8L engine. Two different salvage yards tried to sell me the one from a 3.0L engine. The 3.0L fan is not even close to being as powerful. The only way I could tell the difference between the two was from the shape of the shroud.

I've added 5 photos to my gallery that should explain everything better.
