Default Headlights

Anybody out there have a procedure for aiming the headlights on a new BDR?

If you remove the trim ring you have 2 screws that provide aiming adjustment. Sometimes the screws that hold the bulb retaining ring are long and touch the body in a way that does not allow enough aiming in 1 or 4 directions.

A procedure would be this: When it's somewhat dark, bring your car to about 5 feet from a wall or garage door and mark with tape, maybe an X, the center of the beams on the wall. Back it up, keeping it straight, about 20ft and check the center of the beams compared to your marks and adjust the headlamp accordingly if need be. That should get you close.

Jay,

Do the trim rings screw on/off or do they pop off with a flathead screwdriver. Just want to make sure I don't do any damage?

There's a Phillips head screw on the bottom of the ring.

After my last post, I went out and checked and found the philips screw on the bottom of the bezel just like you said (I'm a master at overlooking the obvious ).

In any case, got the bezels off and pushed the car about 1 ft away from the wall, turned on the lights, marked a x in masking tape at the center of the beam, then backed it up about 15 ft (that's all the level surface I had). From there, I adjusted the lights using the adjustment screws. Left to right alignment looked pretty good....up and down adjustment was waaay off....but not anymore.

It looks alot better than before......
