Default Exhaust Tuning: Car Chemistry Inserts

Ijust wanted to report on my personal experience with the Car Chemistry exhaust inserts. Tuning the exhaust is a trial and error process, so this is for anyone looking at the various options for changing the sound of their exhaust.

I've never liked the sound I was getting out of the stock exhaust of my Venom 427, which was the all stainless type. Tinny and loud. I replaced the whole thing, from sidepipes to headers with plain steel, glasspack type muffler. A little better, still not what I was looking for.

I bought the 3 disk car chemistry inserts, and installed them right up near the collectors. I used the top cap with the nickel sized hole, and the stainless steel wool batting. I did *not* install the cap on the back end of the inserts at all.

The results exceeded my expectations. I have no perceived loss of HP (a dyno would likely tell a different tale) and in fact am experiencing the crisper throttle off idle and overall better driveability that some people report when they introduce more "back pressure" into the system. Not to mention my original goal, of mellowing out the sound. Still plenty mean, but no so insanely loud that the car becomes punishing to drive. Throatier, more pleasant sounding. Can hear myself think at highway speeds now!

Also, props to Ron over at Metal Morphous for my new paint job. Loving it, Ron, Thanks. I'll post some pictures later.
