This is very exciting for us. The Monticello facility is top of the line in every way and we feel it is an amazing opportunity for our customers. Just so none of our existing customers feel left out, we are going to be introducing a program soon (should be ready next week) that will allow you all to take advantage of this offer as well.

This is an interesting concept, how would any potential warranty claims be handled if they were to arise from such an event?
Both BDR's as well as the customers powertrain of choice? Would they be honored or would they be voided while on track?

Fair question, if you are considering a new Backdraft from Vintage I am happy to help. Stop in and we can go over it. Thanks again.

Thumbs up

Jay,
I'm sure if the event is a training exorcise then
insurance of the participant is covered under their
policy in most cases. Each person will have to evaluate that.

Great idea by the way.

Hersh

Thanks Hersh. Trying to give our customers every last drop. You have the option to run the final laps in the CTS-V as well.

I have been to numerous OPEN track events over the years .and as these cars are coach builds and not completely shaken down the potential for an issue could be there. We both know I had my issues for a turnkey coach build.

A couple of years ago I attended an open track event with another car not my back draft, and this individual came with a freshly completed cobra (not a BDR) with a 460 big block 600 miles on the clock and roughly 600+ hp.

Well he went off course went air borne and put the nose in the dirt! Now I understand this is the worst case scenario and would not be a warranty issue but the point is the unforeseen could happen.
The motor could overheat and warp a head or blow a head gasket, the trany could snap an input shaft etc.

I am just asking if the warranty would be in place or suspended for the track event. Then there is the issue of public pictures on the web and the Manufactures denying claims. I have seen it happen.

If it is brought up and answered right from the start and explicitly stated how such situations were to be handled then no ruffled feathers so to speak and everyone knows what to expect.
Remember these are high HP and lightweight cars, so is the answer yes or no or case by case basis?

You should consider the facts:

A.) This is being done with instruction and is not an OPEN track day.
B.) This does not have to take place the first day you drive your Backdraft.
C.) Not a competitive Track Day, there is a difference from insurance, warranty, etc.
D.) It's FREE and OPTIONAL and UP TO THE CUSTOMER.
E.) It's FREE and worth nearly $3,000.
F.) It's FREE and you get lunch.
G.) It's FREE and we are the only one giving this away.

FYI there are a couple other dealers offering this but they are selling Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and I think the last one might be the lowly BMW

I have heard many scenarios on this never actually had any first hand knowledge on someone being covered while on track, just word of mouth.
I have asked my Insurance company and they say absolutely no.

There is a specialized track insurance one could aquire but that is costly, perhaps if enough interest then the OP would be able to come up with a group rate for this type of insurance since he is looking at endorsing these type of events.

Understood but there still is no answer on the warranty if any.
Not trying to deter anyone from participating in such an event, but I have unfortunately seen a few individuals have their day ruined because of an issue on track whether it be a competitive event or not. Would this event have a maximum speed?

We definitely don't want to talk a competition track event then the insurance companies really get strict for liability etc...

Jay,
Great idea, I wish I was able to have a fun day with no charge. I wonder if they will have a "wet surface" instruction, that would be a challange ...

mln385,
Thanks for looking out for us. To me it is black and white...Big Boy Rules, you break it you deal with it, don't expect someone else to CYA.

Wow, nice offering!!! I think anyone would be out of their mind to warranty any car used on any surface besides a public roadway. So take your new Backdraft go around the track at 50 mph to say you did it then get in the caddy and beat the sheeeet out of it.

I tell you what Jay. You get a TD up there to Monticello, and I'll trailer mine up and participate with you guys.
Great concept. That is one track on my short list.
Some of you guys should think about The Reptile Roundup in November in SoFl. There will be 4 BDR TDs on track together.

Cool track day

Jay , can I join the event ? I would love to bring the new Cobra & the BDR GT 40 for a blast ! Also I'm happy to pay any costs involved. Mark has some valid points but sometimes you just have to say "what the _ _ _ _ "! I have done many events @ Lime Rock. I've had training & instruction also which is very important. I have been fortunate that I've never had any real problems but if I did I think Rwilla is right & we're big boys and we are on our own. Although I don't think Jack Roush would mind if we exercised his engines a bit would he ???
