one other thing to check, Fire up the engine at night, lights out so it is dark and see if any of the wires are glowing. I found this problem with a friends miss, his had new wires, cap Rotor, with MSD Ign. The Ign throws a huge spark and can light up the insulation on even 8.0 wires. Just a thought and no $$. Running 8.5 with no problems.
