Anyone thinking of selling their bdr?
I'm in the market....prefer an engine that's bigger than a 350, other than that, I'm flexible.

BDRs have prices ranges but they very greatly as well. Can you be more specific on price. Also you might just go ahead and lay out what exactly you would like...you never know, it might be out there. This is my second Cobra but my first BDR, you cant go wrong with Backdraft. My new one has a late model motor and because of this experience, all my future cars will most likely be restomods. You can beat the upkeep. IMHO I love the original looking ones too, just don't like a ton of difficulty. Now I'm rambiling

One thing to be careful... A number of Backdrafts and other Cobra replicas in general fell victim to Hurricane Sandy. These cars will be on the market for years to come. Caution to buyers. Owners have been made whole by insurance companies but secondary markets will gladly seize opportunity at new owners expense...

Thanks for all the input fellas!
Seems like most of the BDR's on Cobra Country are sold.
I always look on ebay, that gray one that just sold on there seemed sketchy, the ad listed mileage at 5500, then below it said "not 5500, 550" so I called the guy to confirm and he said it has 1900 miles on it, and he drives it to the beach, around town, etc even though he was a dealer. hmmm whatever, it sold for $41k.
I've been considering what i really want for a while. I won't be doing any dragstrip/track stuff, just driving on the street.
I would prefer a later build BDR, blue, black or silver/gray, an engine bigger than a 350, preferably 427, low mileage, sorted car for somewhere in the forties.....I've seen plenty of them out there, so I know I'm being realistic, there is one on ebay right now thats almost perfect...I'm considering it. But if I could get a better deal, then I'm open to that.
I'm actually cutting out of work a bit early today to go meet with a BDR owner and go for a ride. I'm pretty excited....

Hi
I sent you an email yesterday. I am going to sell mine this spring. It is blue with white stripes and has 351W. It is sorted out and is a street use only car I have put 22K on. It will definitely be sold at a lower price than 41K.

I've toyed with the idea of selling mine for quite some time. It's an awesome car... I just don't find the time to drive it as much as I'd like, and/or should. Mine is an older chassis, and therefore probably not what you're looking for. The DART-blocked aluminum 427W is a great engine with gobs of power. It will idle around 800 rpm around town... not bad for an engine with a snotty cam & 615 hp/tq. I had it dyno-tuned a few years ago, & haven't had to touch it since. It's probably a bit much, if one wants a "cruiser"... it WILL slog around town... but it's not terribly happy doing so. It's an easy car to drive, but stop & go traffic will give your left leg a workout... and the solid engine mounts transmit more vibration to the chassis- most noticeable at idle & around town. It comes into its own on the freeway at around 2800-3000 rpm... heaven! I see this post has been up for a while, but good luck with your search!

Anyone looking for an almost new Backdraft, I have a customer in NJ that purchased the car in March of this year and is now too ill to keep the car. It's his dream car and he's shattered about having to part with it and the prognosis he will not be capable of driving anything in a year.
This car we just completed the full NJ state inspection and registration process on so it is fully legal in the state of NJ if you are a Jersey resident that's an added plus.
Anyone interested can email or call me and I will be happy to share the owner's information. We are not looking to consign the vehicle since we hope the transaction can be directly through the owner and they can get as much back out of the car to help on his new battle.

Miles: 2,700
Engine: VMS 427X / 515HP

Moto-Lita Style Wood Steering Wheel
Autometer Cobra Gauges

* Customer had a $5,000 audio system installed that I do not have photos or direct details on.
