First let me say that I'm not familiar with BDR. A lot of good advice given. Obviously I wouldn't drive it with out have the steering fully diagnosed and sorted.

I have seen a lot of steering systems with multiple U-Joints that are out of phase. This will cause binding. This wouldn't be the cause of all of the symptoms.
