Travel jack for trunk of car
I think I have read a jack from a Taurus or 300ZX will work on a BDR. Anybody with ay advice is welcome to share it with me.

I use a jack from a 1990 ish Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo. I've posted this before so search it. Nice aluminum piece, low and light.

Russell go to a boneyard and find a Jeep Liberty. Jack is small, lightweight, and has a carrying case. It works on my SPF so it should work on a BDR.

Harbor Freight has a nice little blue aluminum FLOOR JACK that goes on sale for about $60.00 that is compact, light and safe to have on board. Bungee it in there and you will be just fine.

I just bought a 90's mustang scissors jack from eBay for $25, delivered. Still deciding whether I should just throw it in the tool bag, or make an aluminum mount for the trunk.

To get out. I use a wheelchair and need clearance under from under frame.
I have a patient lift to pick me up. We never go far from home.

Guys, don't forget that if your car has a flat, it's going to be about 2" - 3" closer to the ground sitting on the rim. So your jack is going to need to be less than 3" tall!

Yeah, but if you jack the back of the car up high enough, the front wheel comes off the ground too, and vice versa. Now if both tires on one side were flat, then you'd have a real problem -- whether you had a spare or not. Jack it up from the differential, I suppose.... I do carry two big cans of Fix o' Flat and a cheap little 12v air compressor (that has blown up more basketballs than it has tires). |

I guess my 17" wheels will save me an inch of clearance.
We use a couple of short ramps to get patient lift under frame.
They should go into trunk, I guess.

I'm with Patrick on this one. With no spare, why would a jack be needed? Rubber plug kit and a 12V mini compressor in the tool bag will solve almost everything but a cut or a tire that pulled away from the bead, but a jack isn't going to help that either. Might just be me, but seems strange.

I have met the OP and he is the most diehard Cobra owner that I know. He is wheelchair bound since his college days and still goes for rides in his Backdraft. He uses a patient lift (kind of like a cherry picker to set him in the car). More frame clearance is needed for the legs of the patient lift to pass under the frame of the car, hence the need for ramps or jack to get the needed clearance.

Did not realize you needed something along those lines when you got the car. But it would be possible to install an onboard jack system that could lift the car enough for your patient lift to clear. They are common on race cars etc....
