looking at a BDR
so i found a BDR looks and sounds great, but price wise it's lower then others. How much is the price being affected by the 351 W Ford crate motor? the car is a one owner with 5 k miles. what else should i be concerned with?

Could be the 351. What build number is it, color, options? Who built it? Could just be a good deal.... Good Luck & Enjoy

Some of the earlier BDR's seem to carry a reputation (see many posts and chains on this site) but if it is mechanically sound and road safe get yourself a bargain.
The 351 would certainly hurt the resale in my mind but if it is the car out on Auto Trader Classics it looks like a nice ride!
Make sure you do a carfax on it!

Just to give you an idea on price. I just purchase a BDR with 408 TK500 in really nice shape. Prism red gray stripes. PM me and I'll give you the price I paid.

you can always give more money if you feel better about it!!!! No issues at all with 351W. Only problem with early ones 100-200 chassis was slip fit side pipes which were next to impossible to stop from leaking. Later models have flanged connections. Obviously later models have been perfected through generations.
Great cars as I had a an early one and last I heard has 40k miles on it. It was beat senseless as they should be.

I have a BDR with a 351W / 385 HP, and am very satisfied with the dependability, performance and power. Issues with the early BDR models were corrected on later models and Backdraft is always making improvements. If I ever get another Cobra, it will be BDR with a 351W.

It is a very early Backdraft, probably in the 100-200 range.

I had 123? and would have no issues getting it again. besides the side pipes which i did eventually get to seal with tail pipe expander had no issues. all depends on price. blue with white stripes is a great combination. not much to go wrong with them. if you can get below mid 30's without body damage and excessive wear can't go wrong. need more details.

I have 226 built in 2005 by Backdraft FL. We love the car, gets a lot of compliments. I did convert the side pipes to flanges and changed out the mufflers for S Specialties 3" ID. I recently added 15" knocks with Avon tires. Check out the Backdraft Boys website for more info on BDR cobras.
One in good shape as madmaxx said in the mid 30's would be a good deal. I would have no problem getting another BDR.

Now all i need is to have someone check it out. the last Cobra i had i bought in the same city (Atlanta), wouldn't have the same guy check it out. took me 4 months to solve the over heating problem.

I know its too late but Barrett Jackson had a few for sale yesterday. And I wouldn't shy away from an earlier build, mine is #38 and aside from some early problems (stupid stuff) that I had to sort out, the car has been no problem since.

Not to steer you away from your choice, but to give you another alternative, have you seen my car listed in the classified? ;)
