Backdraft Product Test Pilots
Please email or respond here, my private message box here fills up too quick.
We've got a bunch of tricks and upgrade kits we are working on finalizing in the VMS lab. Some are pretty evolved and nearly ready for market and a few we are working through some revisions and further tuning on. I would like to offer some of these items to those interested in hopes of advancing the development and improving the end products. My thoughts are that our kits that are near full realization would be sold to a few volunteers at a reduced price while the other items that are further from finalization would be sold at material costs and might require a little tweaking or finishing (like painting or polishing) during install. In return we would like feedback, perhaps a write up on your install (take some pics), and when the final version hits the market it would be made available to the volunteers at a huge discount. Products in the pipeline (no particular order): Remote Clutch Slave Kit Enhanced Slave Cylinder Bracket Accelerator Cable Re-enforcement Plate Nose Grill No Drill Ray Dyot Mirror Bracket (Driver) No Drill Functional Ray Dyot Mirror Bracket (Passenger) Universal Seat Mount Plates (also used for Slider Delete and Lowering) Tow Hook Suspension Kit (Struts, Shocks, Springs, and Conversion Saddles) Some Products In House that are Final: Improved Headlight Gaskets with "Hugger" Lip Improved Hood and Trunk Latch Gaskets with "Hugger" Lip Matte Black Upper Door Arm Rest Shields Clear Upper Door Arm Rest Shields Matte Black Wind Wing and Sunvisor Trim "Chrome" Wind Wing and Sunvisor Trim |
Hi Jay,
I have BDR#188 (I know it's near and dear to your heart) and would be happy to help you out anyway I can. I have a lift in my garage, so pics would be easy. The products that I'm interested in are listed below (in no particular order): Remote Clutch Slave Kit Enhanced Slave Cylinder Bracket Accelerator Cable Re-enforcement Plate Suspension Kit (Struts, Shocks, Springs, and Conversion Saddles) I am very interested in a better steering solution, even power steering. I know you mentioned some time ago that you where working on a kit. Are you still? Let me know how I can help. Thanks, Tom |
Thanks Tom for the response. If others could respond here with what they are interested in and their car number I can include them. An email would work good too.
In your case the Accelerator Cable plate would not be necessary as your era did not have the weaker unit. The other items we should be able to get you involved with. Send me an email for details. The Remote Slave Kit is production ready, just need a few people to install and give feedback. I have 2 kits boxed and ready to go. The suspension kit is 90% ready. We would need you to install a base line setup (as far as spring weights go) and then drive and decide if you need to go up or down in the front and we will exchange them. Just waiting on a production run of our new saddles. The clutch slave bracket we have is for a Quicktime Bell with a TKO500 or TKO600. |
Just wanted to add, we have a number of other products we cannot announce here so they do not get knocked off before we introduce them. So for these items the Test Pilots will be offered first opportunity.

Jay has put together a nice remote clutch master kit. I just haven't had time to install it. I hope to get to it in this week and will send Jay a write up along with pics.
These sound like much needed (or maybe just wanted) improvements. Thanks Jay. Gordon |
Jay,
I would be willing to help, just does not seem most of the listed items do not apply to #1148. Perhaps something not listed? Remote clutch master kit is something I would be interested in, if you are still looking for beta victims. Thanks Patrick |
Build 1284
Be happy to sign up for new product try outs.

I would like some more info on the suspension upgrade. I currently have the aftermarket BDR front camber plates and caster lollipops and have not installed them yet. I would not mind trying some different springs while I have everything apart. Does this upgrade come with new dampers also? Is it stiffer or softer than stock to start with?
Thanks! |
I would also like a remote clutch reservoir for #354.
|
Jay I have #470. I don't have the quick time bell.... anything.??? Be happy to help just over an hour north...
|
Jay, I have BDR 516 and would be happy evaluate new products. The items I would most be interested in at this time are the No Drill Ray Dyot Mirror Bracket (Driver),
No Drill Functional Ray Dyot Mirror Bracket (Passenger) and the matte black door armrest. I will PM you my email along with an additional request which I won't post openly. |
1344 here. That headlight gasket fits terrible I'm all over a fix for that.
|
Jay,
We already spoke about the grill insert as my intercooler and radiator have taken a little bit of a beating, but the remote clutch reservoir and "functional" ray dot brackets sound like a great improvement for #1134. Either when it comes in for some "tweaks" in October or....... Julian |
Sign me up for a suspension kit. (I always wanted to be a test pilot.)
Richard |
Jay,
I would be up for trying out the: The improved headlight gaskets - always messing with those and hoping they won't fall off. Remote clutch slave kit New slave bracket Thanks! Mark #1350 |
I have enough takers on the suspension kits for the first round.
Need 1 more remote clutch reservoir tester. Need 1 more grill tester. Other items are pretty much covered. Thanks. |
