Default Coyote motor oil pressure

I never noticed before, but I'm seeing the oil pressure at rather high figures, even after the motor is warm. Idle seems ok at about 40-50, but when I run it up to about 3,500 RPM, the needle is pegged at 100, which seems crazy high.
Anyone with any input on this?

Thanks!

Seems normal to me, I have seen as high as 80psi on them, how much oil do you have in there and what is the viscosity...what filter are you using...

+1 for oil viscosity.

For example, if you using 15w50, I'd change it to 5w30.

I wish I had an engine where I could LOWER pressure with a thinner oil.

What oil pressure gauge are you using?

Ford recommends 0W-20 for the Coyote motor (except for some of the track package option cars) so you probably do need to use a thinner oil. The old (ancient) rule of thumb is a minimum of 10 psi of oil pressure for every multiple of 1000 rpms. Since these are 7,000 rpm redline motors in stock trim, you are looking for at least 70 psi plus, when reving it up.

Since they print 5W-20 on the oil cap, I'd have to say that's what Ford actually recommends.

As to OP question your pressure is in line for the Coyote. It also likes hotter oil.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm not sure what weight oil is in there, as the car was assembled by Custom Cars down here in Florida (I will ask).
I assume they likely used the Ford recommended oil type.
I called Ford Motor Racing yesterday. Cashburn is correct. The Coyote runs at much higher oil pressure than a typical motor. Just a little nerve racking when you see the gauge needle pegged at the extreme end!

Default Oil Pressure

I have the coyote in my BDR and have the same oil pressure readings.

I'll have to look at my Mustang GT again - swore it said 0W-20 but maybe my memory fogged over. I do happen to use 5W-20 in it.

I have quite a few of those oil caps here so I'm pretty sure

I stand corrected - it's my wife's Highlander that specifies 0W-20. Too many cars I'm responsible for changing the oil for I guess.
