Brakes? Maybe the pads...
After the pedal went to the floor, I replaced a failed front caliper piston(O ring) that upon examination it showed the caliper was pressure washed, but not completely. So much for new.

BTW, it doesn't matter if it was build number 001 or 1001.

It does matter, a roller today is $39,900.

Ozzie,
With the front end in the air, disconnect the tie rods from the spindles and try turning the wheels independently. Rule out the ball joints for certain, as I know there was an era with very stiff joints that lead to this type of feeling and cars that did not return to center.

In my situation, the front wheel bearings are non serviceable, they are integrated into the hub.- the hub assembly from the junk yard was bad and not identified at the time of the build. The mere fact that this brand uses recycled parts much like factory Five turned me off on the brand. I am sure Superformance could met the same price point if they did not use all new components. My customer had no clue when he bought his Backdraft.

I don't know when the car you are speaking of was built. But the cars have new hubs/bearings, while yes the spindle itself is reman. That's how it has BMW suspension

I don't think any company other than Backdraft can meet the pricepoint for what you get. Perhaps that is why there are no other companies in the price range?

New car 2010, came out of Ohio. Not trying to start a pissing contest, but this was my experience with this brand. The car now lives in San Diego with a new owner.

As a frame of reference that would be a car bought at the $31,900 or $28,900 price tag. In that era it fell on the dealer to inspect those components and replace as necessary. Yes, we ate a lot of those invoices to ensure the product rolling out our doors was up to expectations.

Too late! All Cobras are great. You what you pay for, sometimes not...

Back in 2008 I had a customer bring in his new Backdraft with a noise in the rear of the vehicle. Upon inspecting the vehicle we found that one of the mounting ears for the rear diff housing was broken and the diff had dropped down allowing the axle shaft to ride on the sway bar. Another diff cover (also used) was supplied by the dealer and we made the repairs.

I am a Body Shop Manager and installing used/reman suspension pieces for repairs is not a good practice in my opinion. Especially in a high performance application. Too many unknowns about the part's history - possible prior stress or impact damage, microfractures, ect. can lead to sudden and dangerous consequences.

Here are a couple of photos of the car in question. Not throwing stones here, but please make sure you perform regular and complete inspections of any used/reman pieces, as they are NOT new, as most of the rest of your BDF is.

Please don't misunderstand - I am not saying that you CAN'T use these pieces, but I AM saying that you should pay special attention to them, as their age/mileage/condition is unknown.
Jim
