Default Upgrading Oil Pan for more clearance

So crawling under the car the other night i realized how little clearance there is between the oil pan and the ground. I measured mine and i have about 2 3/4 inches from the bottom of the oil pan to the ground. This is on a Roush 427R. How many of you have swapped out oil pans for more clearance? What did you go to? Searches have resulted in good things about Armando oil pans. Just trying to get some more insight. Thanks !

I am very happy with my switch several years ago to a Kevco road race pan for my 351W. It holds 10 qts and they have a nice wide flat bottom. Preventative maintenance for potential oil pressure problems on racetracks and it worked! They aren't as famous as some but it's a great pan for a reasonable price.

Good Luck

Thank you Cbreeze. I will check them out today. Question, do you actually put in 10 qrts when filling her up?

Gorgon Levy Racing makes a nice low profile 351W oil pan designed specifically for Cobras.

Yes. A good way to check your pan capacity is to fill to the bottom of the windage tray (keep track of how many quarts) as this still clears the crank. Don't forget that you will have oil in the engine and filter which lowers that level when running. Never had any blow-by problems, even at high RPM.

Also note that this checking is done....BEFORE the pan is installed!

Kevco built a pan for my new windsor stroker.....a little less than 7" tall. Holds 7 qt, plus filter, plus oil cooler and lines. The guys at Savannah Race Engineering had it done for me. If you want to call Kevco, ask around about a pan for SRE, done about 5-6 months ago. I have shaved the bottom flange on my bell, and am debating on dropping the engine about 1". Total overkill, but that's what we live for.

I had a custom pan made for my 460 by Armando. The bottom of the pan is 1/4" above and parallel to the frame rails, with kickouts on both sides and a 3/4 length sump. Drain plugs front right (facing forward) and back left (facing left) and a bung for an oil temperature gauge as well as provision for a dipstick (460s used either a dipstick in the pan or one in the timing cover). Fully baffled, trap doors, windage tray and complete with pickup. 11 litres capacity to just above the windage tray.

It's a thing of beauty and I would highly recommend Armando - especially if you have any kind of custom or unique requirements.

Armando seems to come very highly recommended. Sounds like a true craftsman. I have already exchanged a few emails with him and seems to really be passionate about his product.
