Now i'm really jealous. Called Berkley and they won't insure Montana LLC's nor New Jersey cars. Just a heads up for others.

Try Robbin at Mid West classics. I believe they insure more Cobra replicas than anyone else.

I just got insurance from Grundy for my Superformance. I was very clear that that it was a 2000 Superformance factory built replica and titled as a 1967 Ford Cobra. They confirmed everything with the underwriters and reviewed the pictures. My rate is $425 for an agreed upon value of $51,500.

The policy change document says "1967 Ford Shelby Cobra Replica"

The insurance card says "Shelby / Cobra Roadster 427"

Midwest wanted $675

This is who I use. Robbin is a good guy.

$80,000 insured value
Limited to 6000 miles per year
No one under 26 can drive the car
Can drive the car to work up to 60 times per year

$740/yr....in Atlanta, where I am sure rates are a little higher.

Digging up an old thread -

Tim (and any other NJ owners),

Did you ever find your solution to insuring your Montana LLC / NJ owned Cobra (e.g., Midwest Classics)?

I'm starting the build process for a Vintage Motorsports Backdraft Racing Cobra. I live in NJ as well. Jay from VMS filled me in on the NJ registration issue so I'm starting the Montana LLC process. Next up will be insurance and Jay recommended Midwest Classics.

I'd like to hear how any of you solved the insurance mystery.

Much appreciated!

John
