Default BDR Seat Cushion Padding

I like the heated seats in my car. They fit me and my co-driver very well. However, on rides more than an hour, or so, the seat cushions seem to need more padding.
Has anyone modified their seat cushions with more padding? Or, is the only alternative to buy new seats?
I really like the seats except for the lack of sufficient padding in the cushions.

I had the same issues with car #260...the foam was just not good, it would just squish down to nothing in short order. I had a mine bottom redone with higher density foam at a auto upholstery shop. Been 6 years and about 17,000 in the seat miles...still good.

I had the same problem on 318. Did a quick fix years ago that is still working as good today as the day it did it. I bought a couple of "foam" kitchen mats at Costco, dense rubber foam stuff. The bottom cushion comes out easily and it easy to undo the upholstery from the bottom by pulling the staples. I cut the the foam mat to fit, two layers of about a half inch as I recall, maybe a little thicker, and put them right under the seat cover with the stock foam below. Pulled the cover back over the bottom seat board, glued and stapled it back down. The difference was amazing and still is. I think the mats were something like 20 bucks each and you can get one seat out of each one. Cheapest mod you can do to make that much difference in an afternoon. Good luck.....

Default Seat Problem solved

I just purchased SOJOY- Cooling Gel-enhanced comfort Memory foam Multi- from Amazon and it works well and takes 10 seconds to install and remove. My Butt no longer hurts on longer rides.

Can this cushion be cut? Or is there actually gel in the cushion.

It can't be cut it's made to lay on top of the seat and fits very well. The front hump in the seat is not covered and the sides near the back tuck in nicely.

The car upholstery guy that I wanted to modify my seat had a health problem and closed his shop temporarily. In the meantime, I got a seat cushion that included a lumbar support for the back rest. It feels like a great improvement since I have been experiencing back soreness for a couple of years and it seems to be made worse after my jaunts in the BDR. As a consequence, I plan to have my seat mod include a lumbar support in the back rest.
