Default 17" Tire sizes

Looking at replacing the 17" tires on my BDR since the DOT date is 2008. Not too many matching stagger fit sizes available in my current setup and although it came from FL with the setup, it's not typically what they ran on the front. I am currently running 245/40R17 on the front ans 315/35 on the rear. Looks like I'm going to have to switch to 255/40R17 on the front as I've tried 245/45R17 and they were too close for comfort in relation to the fender well. I noticed this is the setup they advertise on backdraft parts (255/40 & 315/35), but surely I'm not the only one running into this.
Thanks

I am running NITTO 555/17 tires on all four. 255/45 on fronts and 315/35 on rear. I have 1" clearance on all four. No rubbing problem.

Have you had any issues with the NITTO 555 throwing rocks and damaging the fiberglass?

Default 17" tire size

I have clear 3M vinyl on the front of the rear fenders to protect them from rocks. And the fenders don't have any damage on them after 11 K miles. I'm very happy with my choice of tires and tread wear.

Just my two cents worth, the Nitto 555 tires have a 300 tread wear rating. You can get 200 tread wear tires (stickier) that still don't throw debris on the side of your car. And in these cars, stickier is better.

Does anyone know what brand of tires come on a BDR standard, i didnt even ask when i ordered it, i know the rims could be upgraded to part or full chrome and there were different rim sizes but i dont think there was an option for tire brands but there were so many option possibilities i might of missed that one

Last I knew they were Falken Azenis (what came on my car). I have since switched to Toyo R888's. The Falkens were OK when I was running a stock Coyote NA but much happier with the Toyo's now.

Thanks for the reply. My concern was on damage the fiberglass from the inside of the fenders. Creating a star in the paint. Sounds like you have not had any problems with that as well.

Sorry for high jacking the thread.

I have the Nittos and I've had some minor deterioration of the undercoating inside the wheel wheels from rocks getting kicked up. Didn't take much to touch up with some fresh undercoating - I cleaned it good and covered the suspension & rotor with plastic before spraying. Like anything else, keep an eye on it and address before it becomes an issue.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and purchase some of the roll on rhino liner or bed liner. Take your tires off and clean your inside fender wells......dab with a heavy paint brush about 2-3 coats of this on over a day and a half and don't ever worry about it again. Really easy to do and super cheap insurance on preventing rock chips in your bodywork.
